Loved this place! Reminded me of the food I’ve eaten in northern Thailand! Here’s what we ordered:
Stuffed chicken wings - delicate with a nice sauce. A nice texture to the skin. This is an easy one for kids or adults who aren’t used to SE Asian food.
Lao sausage - This is such a unique and interesting sausage and I always love it. The version they made here was delicious. I liked it with or without the sauce.
Steak and sauce - Tender steak perfectly cooked. The sauce tasted like a Thai seafood sauce to me, which is delicious with pretty much anything honestly. This is a crowd pleasing dish for sure.
Papaya salad - We could have had it Thai or Laos style. We wanted some extra funk so we went Lao. They made it legitimately spicy for us per our request. I’m happy if my scalp sweats and my nose runs. My friend liked it so much the she took a spoon to the sauce after the salad was done. This tasted exactly like what you’d have in Northeastern Thailand or in Laos.
Drunken noodles with seafood - a nice change of pace from the rest of the meal. I needed a little extra excitement for this dish though so I added the chili oil that was at our table. Yummy!
We got a soju cocktail. Honestly, It was just so we could Instagram it. A blue frozen drink served in a tiny bathtub with a rubber duck in it. Haha. The drink was too sweet but we still finished it. The extra sugar actually helped cool off our tongues between bites of that spicy papaya salad.
I was in the mood for mango sticky rice, but everybody was full so I took it to go.
It’s a small restaurant. Only one employee working the front of the house but he was great and attentive. Genuinely nice guy.
Come here if you enjoy authentic Thai or...
Read moreOne of the worst “Curries” I tasted for some time. Only give a second star because other customers were eating their food. Mine was returned. Ordered a mild yellow curry and was served with something that looked like a green broccoli/cabbage stew. No protein, no potatoes et. When I notified the waiter he suggested I get a side of potato and protein and mix it myself. I respectfully declined his proposal and asked him to remake it as this wasn’t even the base for what I ordered. 5 min later I get the same plate with just two pieces of protein and two potatoes added. Rice was the same and almost cold by now. It was clearly not prepared by a Thai chef. I asked for the food to be returned again and to receive my check. To my surprise they really tried to ask the full amount. Only after some debate was the charge dropped as I didn’t consume anything. The chef never showed his face and only communicated from around the kitchen curtain. I see others had some good reviews here but I...
Read morePros: Ambience of the restaurant was nice. Restaurant is clean. We ordered the Vientiane food tower and it was delicious.
Cons: We got there and no one was there. Not even the workers. We stood around for a good 5-10 minutes until we decided to yell in the kitchen “Hello” before someone came out to sit us. Then another party arrived after us and they were sat at the table right away. They gave them waters and they took their order first. We were shocked that they ignored us. This kind of upset me but I wanted to give them a chance.
Overall: Food was good but service is questionable. Might eat there again, but probably won’t tip them well since they serve people out of order. Side note: we are Asians and the ones that were served...
