Taquería ay Jalisco is, hands down, the best Mexican restaurant in the region. Their customer service is friendly, fast and bilingual; their prices are very reasonable, especially given that their food is high-quality and presented in enormous portions. Their salsas are all fresh and delightful, especially the hot tomato salsa which is as complex as it is brutally hot. The marinade and spice mix they use in their pork adobo is unparalleled.
On weekends, a patron will find a table set up with members of the owning family turning out fresh, handmade corn tortillas. Weekends they also offer pozole and menudo, both of which are as good as (if not superior to) any you might find in Jalisco. The only bum note in an otherwise outstanding menu is the Chile Verde, which is simply green salsa doused on Carnitas (which are themselves excellent), rather than cubes of pork shoulder slow-simmered in Salsa Verde. However, this objection is both minor and technical, and should not in any way dissuade a potential patron. Personally, I am pleased that this taquería has plenty of traditional Cocina Jalisciense; offering menu items that are integral to the cuisine of the region, but which also tend to scare white people.
Finally, it should speak to quality of Taquería ay Jalisco that their lunch and dinner crowds are quite dense, attracting all sorts from far and wide. On that note, friends of mine who live in New Mexico will make a point to visit this restaurant anytime they're in California, even if there is a multi-hour drive between them and it. Do yourself a favor...
Read moreNever coming here again. Walked in, not a whole lot of people in line. Ordered 6 tacos for 3 people. Total came out to 45 ish dollars which is crazy, the lady at the counter started huffing and puffing and rolled her eyes when I asked for them in 3 separate containers and was very impatient with me the whole interaction. Do not recommend. Instead you should go to "Cocina Doña Chuyita" it's 2 mins away and across the street by the barber shop and liquor store. Much better service and the meat actually tastes fresh, not dry like this place. Also 6 tacos was probably 10 or 12 dollars cheaper and they have real horchata. This place only has horchata that comes out of a coke fountain machine. Safe to say I'll never visit this sorry taqueria ever again. I've experienced attitude from the employees the last few times I've went and the prices are way too high for the quality they sell. Meat is always dry and flavorless. Go to dona...
Read moreYall, they HAVE the BEST birra tacos in the entire town. Yall trust me I be getting strong cravings for it, it’s so good I get it at least like once a week whoever made this recipe needs a raise needs a kiss needs a hug. I wish the owner all good luck in the universe. I had tried many Mexican restraints across California even in Oregon. And NONE of their birra tacos slapped in the face as good as it did this one. So much flavor, super juicy. Usually other peoples restaurants consome dip for the birra tacos is pretty watered and flavorless but theirs does something. Their Birra tacos had indeed fixed my marriage. I almost lost the kids until I tried this. My car fixed on its own and my mortgage got paid after I ate this because it’s so good. Please try their birra tacos....
