There are PLENTY of other Mexican restaurants to choose besides this one. You vote with your wallet people!
I have only been here a few times and the service just kept getting worse. The food is the same at all of the Mexican joints. You just have to wait a really long time here at this place.
Today was the last straw. My server acted like he was afraid to speak to me... And when he did I could not hear him. Okay, fine. I get being shy and not knowing English well. Our food took a long time to come out, AS USUAL, and my $15 chicken breast was overcooked to the point I had to use unnecessary force to cut it, and chewing was just as bad. I nibbled at the beans, lettuce, and rice since I had not eaten that day and was so hungry. I waited for what felt like twenty minutes and watched multiple servers pass me by before my server finally stopped to ask if I'd like a box. I told him no. He smiled and asked if it was ok. I told him no, and he started smirking but tried really hard to cover it up. I asked for the manager, he came, and I asked for my meal to be taken off since I could not eat it for being so tough.
He said he could only do 50% off my meal. I agreed and said okay, and I will not be coming back.
Apparently something about my meal was funny to the server and the manager that I did not understand, which made me feel even more uncomfortable... I didn't have anything on my face... I checked! I'm so disturbed as to why the server was avoidant and amused by me and my food. I was polite. I never got an attitude, even though I really wanted to. This is the worst restaurant in town. Go a mile up the road to Walhalla and they have much better...
Read moreExcuse me for editorializing. I don't take the review process lightly. I know full well that many people read them and make decisions based on these reviews. The dining room was clean well laid out. Greeted by smiling young faces eager to please. The waiter was abrupt and somewhat curt with me over my drink order. I told him in Spanish that I expected good service and that it be expedient. No issues after that. Food served quickly and cordially. The food presentation was adequate and that is where it all fell apart. When I tell you that you can get a meal at Taco Bell that is as good as this establishment I promise you I am not exaggerating. The food served is not authentic Mexican cuisine. It is Tex-Mex. Nothing wrong with Tex-Mex. I love it! Just be forewarned this isn't authentic south of the border food. Before I wrote this I went online to see if something may have changed. Going back 4 and 5 years in reading reviews I could see a trend that there were more and more poor reviews as time progressed. Something changed. I took into consideration that this is rural South Carolina and not necessarily a hot bed for Mexican cuisine. There is little for local people to compare it to. That being said; People are spending their hard earned money. Regardless of location they should expect to get good quality professional restaurant food. Just because the food is served to you on a china plate, doesn't mean that a blind eye should be turned to the quality of the food. Until they improve the food, save your money and take a plate with you the next time you go...
Read moreSofar in three visits, totally consistent in quality quantity and service Very polite and accommodating service. The Texas or the House margarita on the rocks excellent. Prices very reasonable with families and low noise. Clean and subtly nicely decorated. The food does not come out of the microwave. Somebody is cooking! The Carnitas are one of the best we have tried. Succulent delicious they even accommodated with salsa verde. The Shrimp and Fish meal fried or grilled- this version is the equivalent of the English Fish and Chips - is fresh and delicious with very very light batter. Served with French fries or baked potato. Another dish tried was the Cabo Tacos, 3 tortillas with shrimp fish or a combination. Served with roasted onion pepper black beans on the side. For an appetizer try the fresh Guacamole comes with tortillas is one if the best we have had, true authentic (with cilantro onion tomato and plenty of mint - I don’t know why but they will ask if you want everything in🤔)
P.S. I am writing about the restaurant located in West Union (there is another one with the same name in Westminster) P.S2. They CANNoT accept a card with a chip only and obviously cannot handle contactless touch cards or Apple Pay. Your card better have a magnetic strip or bring...
