This place is everything a coffee shop should be and so much more! The atmosphere is both cozy and lively - There’s plenty of seating, two bars, outdoor tables, and plenty of outlets and work stations. The decor is in good taste and not tacky or overwhelming - Everything just meshes, and there’s always something to look at. They’ve even got a TV at the bar, and it isn’t as distracting as you’d think it be - So you don’t have to worry about missing your favorite team while you’re trying to get work done or catching up with friends over coffee/beer/wine.
I got a a “honeypea latte” and a black americano. When I go to coffee shops, I like to sample their standard coffee and their speciality latte and I can say with confidence that both were high-quality and well crafted. These people roast locally, and the bean variety they have to do pour overs and make blends is second-to-none that I’ve experienced so far. I took hope a blend of their Papua New Guinea because it’s one of my favorite single-origin coffees, and despite trying it from 4 different roasters thus far; Slowpokes has produced my favorite roast of them all, and I will be coming back to get more.
What surprised me most was their menu; There’s well-over a few dozen different food items to cater to whatever your appetite or dietary restrictions may be, and they have breakfast all day and run happy hour specials on certain appetizers (they also have this really good deal on charcuterie boards and bottles of wine). They’ve got a plethora of coffees and specialty lattes, and a good selection of teas and tea lattes as well. They even have a few beers on tap and a few selections of wine; What surprised me is that they carry Parish, which is a brewery out of Louisiana that makes a stellar, award-winning IPA you can usually only find at taprooms and specialty brewpubs. So you can start off your workday there with a coffee, take a lunch break, and then celebrate your progress at the end of your day with a pint or a glass of wine. Nothing can beat it.
There is one thing I see people complain about, and it’s the Wi-Fi. You have to pay to use it, and I don’t really see it as an unfair model personally - The place is almost entirely packed each time I go, and this prevents people from taking up space from paying customers who plan on using the Wi-Fi to get work done. But when the biggest complaint is a product of the place doing so much business, I don’t really see it as a valid complaint. The prices are fair for the quality of food and service you get, and the baristas are extremely kind and keep the place clean and inviting. The music is perfect for its atmosphere, and I’d HIGHLY recommend this location and their other locations to anyone looking for a quality spot with...
Read moreI was looking for a place to have lunch and do computer work. Here are my quams:
Limited comfortable seats with limited access to outlets. Majority of seats are backless. Only one wall with easy outlet access 2 hour wifi limit. You must purchase something in order to use the wifi for 2hrs only. If I would've known this I would have bought my items separately to extend my working time. Overpriced crumbs. Menu price is exaggerated compared to what you receive. (AND It frustrates me when establishments charge extra for milk substitutions. This shouldn't be a thing, especially when milk substitutes have a longer shelf life than regular milk, therefore increases profitability and decreases waste potential). Slightly gross. The bathroom, though well designed, was smeared with dirt buildup all over the floors and walls, AND it smelled like an old, dying man with poor hygiene. I also had to clean my table with a napkin and community water before sitting. Good Vibe. Visually appealing. Music too loud. I can hear it over my soundproof earphones.
Overall, not my favorite coffeeshop, but what tips the scale of no return is the wifi limits. I don't mind purchasing items to have wi-fi access, but the terms are presently...
