I'll start by saying that the lady I dealt with here was very nice and that a couple of pastries that I bought were very good and the chocoflan was better than average. However, my main reason for coming here was to order a tres leches cake for a late Mother's Day celebration--I wanted it to be extra good and look extra nice, so I decided to buy from someone who's skilled at this recipe and knows how to decorate well with whipped cream. I came in to order the night before (a peach-filled round cake) but when I showed up at the designated time to pick up the cake they weren't ready and hadn't made any round cakes, so they asked if I'd wait while they assembled and decorated a peach-filled rectangular cake. I didn't mind too much that it was a different shape--I just wanted it to taste good--but I was a bit annoyed that no discount was offered for my having to wait nor for them making a mistake on my order. The cake was put in a huge open-topped box, making it difficult to keep it safe/clean while transporting it. And when we ate it--it was awful. It was prettier than any cake I've ever made with whipped cream frosting, but the tres leches cakes I've made myself were ten times better tasting. The dairy in the cake was too watery, making the bottom layer too soggy too soon and the peach filling was almost crunchy--consisting of nothing but slices of unripe peaches. My mom tried to be positive about it, but even though we hate to waste food we both agreed to throw most of it away. My advice is to stick to...
Read moreMy husband speaks Spanish and a novice level and can carry on a conversation quite well. He ordered a cake Monday to pick up Thursday for my birthday. They gave him a slip to pick up the cake. Well he arrived Thursday morning at the pickup time allotted and they didn’t have the cake. They told him that someone he knew must have picked it up. Well we don’t have family in our area and that’s quite ridiculous especially since we had the slip. He prepaid for the cake and they are frantically running around trying to find a cake. For his birthday I bought a cake off the rack and it must have been several days old. It was totally dry and just foul. We didn’t eat it and bought something from Harmons. This is why we preordered giving them grace. Well the ended up grabbing a cake from their rack and giving it to my husband who was waiting 30 minutes at this point. It was so dry and this cake was old too. Super disappointed because we have tried to give them several chances due to the reviews being high. Will not be coming back, we will be going to Anayas Market instead for...
Read moreI stopped by the new store to get some bread since I haven’t been by the new location. I walked in and was noticed by the cashiers but ignored when I said hi. I came to the cupboards to get a donut and 2 flies fly out of the cupboard. I ignore it because I always buy from here. I finish getting my favorites and I head to the counter, the cashier is having a nice lovely talk and acknowledging the customers infront of me. When it’s my turn, she doesn’t turn to look at me and starts a conversation with the customer behind me. Ignored once again. I go home and I call the store to ask for the owner because I had a few questions, same lady answers me and is talking over me when I ask if there’s anyone I can talk to I get “No.” and hung up on. Honestly, it really upset me because usually everyone is really sweet but I don’t want to go back because I don’t feel welcome. It’s really unfortunate that had to be the case here. It’s really unfortunate that this kind of service is being allowed. Management should be aware of what’s going on before more customers are...
