China Star — Restaurant in West Virginia

China Star is a restaurant that offers a buffet with a decent selection of dishes. While the flavors could have been better, the food was not bad overall. However, we found that most of the dishes, except for the fried rice, were on the sweeter side, which was not to our liking.

When we arrived at the restaurant around 7:30pm, we noticed that things were almost over, and there was only one lady server. Despite there being only a few tables occupied at the time, she seemed overwhelmed. It would have been better if there were more staff members to provide efficient service.

During our visit, my husband unfortunately got bitten by a paper wasp or something similar. We informed the lady server about the incident, but she pretended not to understand. Thankfully, the bite did not result in any severe allergic reaction for my husband, which was a relief.

Wow. I was very happily surprised with our take out order! China Star is really good! We had the General Tao's Chicken, the General Tso's Chicken, chefs special fried rice, chefs special lo mein, and fried dumplings. Everything was stellar - fresh, tasty, tangy, sweet. The dumpling dipping sauce was plentiful and had little shreds of fresh ginger. They gave us way too many condiments so next time I'll ask that they don't send any - duck sauce and soy sauce - and ask for some hot mustard. Definitely not complaints or criticisms. We will be eating there again, and somewhat regularly I imagine if the food is consistent. We used Doordash - the food was ready very quickly.

I gave 5 stars for atmosphere although we haven't been in the restaurant yet. Will update when we go...

Absolutely delicious food. We love and continue to support China Star. I just wish portion sizes were more clearly written on Door Dash. We've ordered three different times and the first time we got about twice as much food as the second and third time for the same price. The first time, our go-plates were filled with the actual food-food we ordered. The second and third time, half of the dish was filled with rice. I just wish that it had been made more clear what I was getting for the price...
