In the search for something to eat today, we stumbled across Farley's Famous Hot Dogs on Google. The restaurant is located conveniently on US-60 in Barboursville, WV. We weren't sure what to expect, but upon pulling in we quickly realized it was a drive-in/carry-out spot. Loved it!
Not seconds after we had barely shut off the car, an employee quickly ran over to the driver's side window to take our order. Since it was our first time there, he was nice enough to go grab us a couple of menus and gave us time to take a look. We saw someone else park and walk up to the building to place their order, so it seems like you don't have to stay in your car if you don't want to. We also saw them provide a window tray to another car for them to hold their food.
We ordered 2 hot dogs, 1 corn dog, 1 hamburger, 2 sets of french fries, and 1 large rootbeer float. From the time we ordered until the time we got our food could not have been more than 5 or 6 minutes. It was so quick! The person who waited on us was very friendly, patient, and provided great customer service.
As for the food? It was good! The prices were super reasonable. Our hot dogs (with steamed buns!) were classic, not super big, but really tasty. The corn dog had an excellent, crunchy crust with a quality hot dog inside. The hamburger was juicy and tasted fresh. The fries (we got both cheese & chili cheese) were good - crinkle cut that held up well to the toppings. Finally, the root beer float was MASSIVE and really hit the spot alongside the rest of our meal. It may have been because we drove from there to Ritter Park to eat, but the float seemed to be more of a blended mix of the pop & ice cream, instead of big hunks of ice cream. Honestly, I preferred this version!

Read moreCool little drive-in place on the side of the road in Barboursville. As soon as we pulled up, one of the employees ran up to our car to take our order. After looking at the menu, we decided to get a cheeseburger, a couple hot dogs, a corn dog, some fries, and a root beer float.
Everything was very good and tasted fresh. The steamed hot dog buns are a great compliment to the hot dogs. The burger was juicy and cheesy, and the toppings tasted fresh. The corn dog had an excellent crunch to the outside, with a large weiner inside, and the fries were crispy. The root beer float has the ice cream blended in with the root beer (which is the way I prefer them) instead of large scoops of ice cream and was very refreshing.
Some of the other reviews have mentioned that the toppings on the hot dogs were not a large quantity, which I agree with, but you still get all the flavor so it wasn't a big deal for me. Between the burger, one hot dog, and fries, I was pleasantly full, and my gf had a hot dog, corn dog and fries and was also full from the meal.
Farley's is a great little place to get some good food for relatively cheap, quickly, and with great service. Definitely recommend checking them out if you're in the mood for some good,...
Read moreYesterday was my first time there and I was spoken to condescendingly. The guy there assumed we were from out of town because my husband asked if they could make hotdogs Chicago style. He responded that this is West Virginia. Obviously! But we've been able to get Chicago dogs as far as Arizona so it's not really that far fetched for a "Famous" hot dog place! I eat Mexican food in West Virginia and we're not in mexico. Then I asked him what's in their homemade hotdog sauce to which he again condescendingly responded "it's just hot dog sauce. This is West Virginia, When you're from the north.." to which I interrupted to correct him now for the second time that were from here and live here. He then asked my husband if he knew what hotdog sauce was and my husband said no. He then responded by stating he's lived here fifty years and knows what hotdog sauce is. That's great! So when I ask what hotdog sauce is you should be able to tell me, Especially if it's homemade. If you want a good hotdog,...
