4/27/2025 The ribs are usually tough but today the ribs were good for once. I was not even going to try them but I saw them falling apart and thought they must be good and they were. But the dessert was so disappointing. They let everything run out and it's not like they were waiting for the dessert to come out of the oven. The cakes were frosted and cold straight from the fridge which is fine but why did they let everything run out? All they had to do was get it out of the fridge. I didn't get what I wanted because they ran out of everything and they were preparing stuff that didn't look like dessert. I wanted bread pudding but it was scraped dry as well as the cobbler and not a single slice of cake, cookie or ice cream toppings. There were only fruit pies and marshmallows. I paid $16 for this?
9/11/2023: The wings are TERRIBLE. I keep getting emails from Golden Corral advertising their wings but on Monday at 6pm I tried 3 kind of their wings and all of them were inedible. I could not eat them because they were tough and rubbery. I have never had such terrible winds in my life, nothing even close.
I miss the chocolate chess pie. It wasn't there last time either, but there are several weird looking colored cakes. The bread pudding and brownie was my favorite desserts today. There was no vanilla icecream and both icecream dispensers were chocolate.
8/6/2023: We went on a Sunday at 1pm. The ribs were terribly tough and inedible. The ham was good. Not enough meat options. No roast beef, the fried chicken wasn't good, no baked potatoes. The mashed potatoes and gravy were Not hot. The large shrimp was the best thing, hot and fresh. There was no fish. No honey butter for the rolls. No ice cream but there were toppings set out like hot fudge, peanuts and whipped cream. Our server could have been more attentive, we had to ask for refills twice.
Very disappointed because the price is high on Sunday but the buffet is very lacking.
(Previous review)Opening after COVID: Too busy and not enough food. There was no selection of desserts because they were eaten faster than they were put back out. There was no shrimp because it wasn't replenished fast enough. I paid $15.50 for the Sunday buffet. The line was so long and just standing there a long time. Our party of 8 had to split up for lack of tables. DON'T...
Read moreThe wait staff was good and attentive in all aspects. The cashier was courteous and polite. The rest of the restaurant was awful. I arrived around 10a on Saturday and the was approximately 20 cars in the parking lot and better than 50% of the buffet was empty. I allowed 20 minutes to be replenished but there were no attempts made by staff to correct this. I could not get any orange juice through the machines and attempted to let staff know but workers behind the buffet would not respond to my attempts to speak with them. I went to the cashier and asked to speak with him and he was at the bank. He came back shortly after I requested to speak with him. I explained that buffet was empty of the main dishes and was unable to get various items. He acted like he was doing me a favor and simply said I’ll talked to them. Fifteen minutes later I was at buffet trying to get some food and I got his attention and stated they have not added any items to the buffet I was actively eating on and he replied wait 10 minutes for the eggs. The workers responded to his commands in Spanish but not my attempts to communicate with them in English. I was there back during the holidays earlier this year and they had a big sign outside stating they were open so my son and I went in to eat. They charged a premium to the buffet cost without any notice. The wait staff and cashiers were very good but the buffet staff was poor but still better than they were today. I chucked it up to being the holidays then but now realize it the management and there policies and procedures to blame. I used to search out Golden Carroll in my travels and have probably eaten at 20 or more different locations and it was alway a great experience. When leaving the restaurant there were 10 people or so talking about their experiences here and they were all in agreement regarding the poor buffet. They told me that they were under new management but new management only made the food and experience worse. For the price I could go somewhere else like the Cracker Barrel just the road. Don’t waist your time he at...
Read moreI've eaten here before, last month. I was actually excited that the price appeared to be lower at lunchtime, but- there wasn't much of a salad choice and no steak. This time around was different- of course, I was grossed out by a dead turtle in a parking space with what looked like human blood? 😵Ok, so RIP Mr. Turtle, who knew there were turtles in WV? Or that their blood looks like human blood. 😖Second one I've seen here, only my friend rescued the last one putting it in the grass so it wouldn't get squished. Anyways, I get to the door, and there's this long trail of blood near the front doorstep. 😱It was about 200 or so feet from the dead turtle in the parking space, made no sense, and I'm like- do I really want to eat here? Food was great though, had steak, shrimp, mashed potatoes and carrot cake. 🥳 So glad they had that! It was 1:40 when I arrived, they charged dinner prices. I asked why since it was lunchtime, and they claimed because it was the weekend. I scrutinized the prices once again, and realized I was going to have to cough up that extra 5$. Was scrambling for silverware after I got my food. Waitress said I was hiding, I wasn't- just got a table that didn't have people or things on it. 🤷 Went to the restroom and WAS COMPLETELY grossed out, no exaggeration. It smelled SO BAD I was dry heaving, and ran out of the bathroom, still dry heaving in the restaurant, and all the way out the door. I didn't stop dry heaving until I was nearly at my car. Seriously? What just died in there? It was horrible. I almost vomited my entire meal, and- somebody really needs to get their system checked and find out if they have some type of terminal disease...
