Me and my family were so excited to try this restaurant, but were very let down. We had reservations and had been watching youtube videos because we were so excited.
We arrived at 6:30 tonight and it took about five minutes for us to be seated which is okay because the waitress looked busy helping at the 2-3 other tables of couples (we had a party of 8 but there were about 8 other guests in total there as well). She came over and we sat at the table and waited. We were not offered any other drinks and we were handed a giant wood menu of their options. Again the menu thing is fine. The problem was we finally ordered after waiting 30 minutes on the waitress which is almost inexcusable. The waitress was nice to a degree but seemed very irritated and peeved. We asked for recommendations over the daunting menu and she said she doesnt have a favorite and told us to get whatever we wanted. Great, but as someone who has worked food service before you should at least make something up. She also was upset when we asked for more water saying she would have to filter it. She seemed nice but just wasn’t very friendly and seemed constantly inconvenienced.
After 30 more minutes we finally received our salads/soups and bread. The salad was spring mix with our choice of dressing, but we saw her making the salad finally 25 minutes after we had ordered. The soup was fine. The bread was homemade but it was just white bread served with to go butter. Again fine but just not special. No garlic or seasoning.
Another thirty ish minutes and it is finally 7:55 and we are on our fourth round of begged for waters. The waitress was talking to another couple for about 10 minutes which I understand if these are regulars and greeting them, but I really feel like it is important to prioritize your guests rather than the conversation. Eventually she goes to the kitchen and brings out the food. Some of my family had the lamb meatballs and the ravioli with walnut cream sauce which were excellent but everything else was truly just mediocre. My sister and I had the alfredo and it was fine but truly nothing special. We shared one plate and it was really only enough for one person. My sister tried to dish up her own noodles and all of the noodles were picked up just to give you an idea of the portions. It was $12.99 so I guess that is fair but it would have been nice to know that it might not be enough. All of the portion sizes and food itself were just not worth the $28 price tags (the items on the menu were more expensive) or 1.5 hour waits. When you pay so much you just expect bigger portions and the taste to be so memorable. Also, I understand parties of 6 have extra fees but after the unfriendly service, mediocre food, and 1.5 hour wait time I feel like it should not have been added. I do understand restaurants and people have off days but I truly felt we were not prioritized and were more like inconveniences and it felt like it was not a one time thing. We will not be returning which is really unfortunate because we had such high hopes. I truly hope that they do not take this review personally but as a way to...
Read moreWe learned about this place after it was featured in Cooks Country magazine. We've been wanting to visit for quite some time and boy was it worth the wait. We used the occasion to celebrate Valentine's day 2021.
First off, reservations only. We arrived on time and were greeted and seated immediately. The place has a casual, peaceful vibe. Certaintly not stuffy or prentitous. We immediately felt at ease and at home. (I very much appreciated the floor heater nearby on this cold winter night). Expect to pay $25-$30 per entree. Half that for appetizers. Most entrees come with soup or salad and potato or pasta.
We were told their liquor license only allowed for about 2oz wine glasses so our waiter said it would be much cheaper to buy a bottle. The waiter keeps the bottle up front and refills your glass as needed. At the end of the meal he seals up the bottle for you to take home.
My wife ordered the eggplant parmesan and I the beef tenderloin medallions. The latter came with brussel sprouts and I chose the boiled potatoes as my side. My wife choose pasta with red sauce as her side which she raved about. I could make some minor quibbles about the food here and there but overall the quality and love put into the food is something you just don't get in a typical restaurant. It's really more like getting invited to a private meal prepared by your friend the foodie.
For dessert we split a piece of almond cheesecake - obviously homemade, creamy and delicious.
Combine the relaxed, peaceful atmosphere with a homemade gourmet meal and the result was an absolutely delightful evening. Thank you. ...
Read moreAMM, As a frequent diner at this restaurant I will state that it is on the website to make reservations. It is very distressing that you in this day and age leave such a review. It is requested you make a reservation. Yes, the restaurant is small. Don't like the decor`. We regulars love it. As we are now into almost 2 yrs of COVID restrictions a little compassion to the hard working small businesses isn't too much to ask. LaCampagna has to follow Federal guidlines. They cook everything to order. They don't book tables by the hour. Or ask guest to leave so they can turn the table. Staff is limited. EVERYONE in the food service industry is aware of that. I have dined at this restaurant for over 25 yrs. Carmella is my go to caterer for family functions. The passion and drive she has for her patrons is second to none. DO YOU have any IDEA what it takes in todays world to keep the doors open and a staff employed? You leave a review like that? When it is right there on the website. For her vast following that love Carm and her staff we will continue to make it our favorite restaurant and be forever thankful for her dedication to serving amazing food. ...
