This place is called Number 1 Sandwiches but they didn’t have any sandwiches when I stopped by, lol. Disappointment.
We came in yesterday to buy sandwiches for lunch but the cashier said they’re out. He told us about other items so I decided to try one of their banana pastries. Then he got really pushy and tried to get me to buy more. I only wanted 1 but he kept saying it’ll taste bad if I don’t buy 2 bc they won’t give me the sauce that goes with. I don’t understand how buying only 1 would mean no sauce that goes with it but ok, I’m fine with buying only 1. Read moreThis is a little carry out of Vietnamese food. They have wonderful grilled chicken on the stick or by the piece. Also wonderful grilled pork balls which I dip in my home-made satay sauce ... oh so good. Grilled ground beef wrapped in grape leaves. A large selections of other foods that one can buy by container or as a combo box. I don't like all the foods but most are very good for my taste. One of my favorite is the crêpe-like dish which has pork, shrimp & bean sprout inside, served with fresh lettuce & herbs in a special sauce. I normally take them home, toast them on both sides. Only thing I didn't like is that the shrimps still have the shells & tails on so I have to remove them. Most Vietnamese like to eat their small shrimps that way. Servers are pleasant...

So I did a search in the vicinity of the Airbnb we were staying at for a place that sold both of these items and came across Bánh Mì Số 1. The porridge was awesome — very flavorful, and our kids loved it too. That said, I think the crepes, crispy as they were, could have done with a bit more flavor and filling; I felt they were pretty light in the shrimp / meat department compared to other ones I’ve had. We also got Vietnamese donuts (Bánh Tiêu) and sweetened coffee, which...
