If I could give this place negative stars I would. The three of us came here during the weekend before Tết 2019. The old guys that work here just walking back and forth; I asked them for hot tea, 4X in Vietnamese; each time, old guys walked away for few minutes and came back out with nothing! When I asked them, if the tea would be out soon? They just looked at the others and said, ừ, then walked away. People seriously save your taste buds and save your money and DO NOT EAT HERE! Please. Their Bún Bò Huế was horrible. The broth, chả, and everything that were in their bowl was so bad that we were gagging as we ate. We ordered a plate of bánh bèo. It was not as good as from my home state. Their nước mắm was worse than what my Caucasian friends made. We ordered their Nem. Another huge Mistake! I asked the old guy that took our order if we could have the Nem out first. He said, okay; he even repeated my order. By the time we could no longer force ourselves to eat the food that we had ordered, I asked that same old guy about the Nem? Didn't say a word, he left and came back with a plate of Chả, the same kind that was in their Bún Bò Huế. I told him that I had ordered Nem. He took the plate away and brought out a plate of Nem. Those Nem were the worst that we had ever eaten. This was our first time here. It would...
Read moreI’ve been a customer at Huong Giang for years, and today I’d like to share my overall experience dining here over time.
Their Bún Bò Huế is very good — the flavor is mild and not overly strong with fermented fish sauce (mắm). However, the consistency can be hit or miss. On some days, the meat is so tough and chewy that it’s nearly inedible. Other times, the broth can taste too plain.
On several occasions, I’ve noticed the cashier guy at the register coughing repeatedly into his hands without washing them afterward. He then handled money, touched counters, served food, and cleaned tables.
Just a few days ago, I saw one of the servers cutting chicharrón with his bare hands — no gloves. He had just finished cleaning tables and serving food and didn’t wash his hands before touching the food.
Overall, I truly hope the owner puts more focus on food safety and hygiene practices. The food here is good, and with a bit more attention to cleanliness, the dining experience could be...
Read moreAdequate food, disrespectful service. There was no napkins and they did not bother to change it before we were seated. The spoons were poorly cleaned—there was brown residue on them. We asked them if they could take our order 3 times and they all still ignored us until the 4th time. We asked them if they could take a picture for us—understand that it is not their job to take our picture so we were not mad about that—but instead of stating that they’re busy, they didn’t bother to take a look or they looked at us sternly and walked away. The vegetables they presented is in bad condition—the color is dulled and the bean sprouts are not peeled on the top. The greens had many brown spots that were not removed from the entirety of the dish. The menu lacked of a difference between the big special and the train special—we had no awareness that the big size would lack of our favorite meat: chả lụa. I would never...
