I must say. Last week, me and my girlfriend and I visit this very fine establishment and I must say... when I read a few other reviews, I begged her to go visit with me and try out some Hawaiian. Since around that time, I was craving it so bad, how can I pass this place up, right?
The day we visit, it was empty at the moment, and in other reviews, other customers encouraged, "it's worth the wait," or, "it's worth waiting for." After reading that, I felt... what the hell, I gotta wait because good things come to those who wait... and guess what... me and my lovely lady waited.
We waited for what... maybe no more than 15 minutes, but to be fair and honest, my order was also big because I came with a huge appetite, so, hahahaha... im more than glad that we waited. Once the boss brought out our plates, he was so kind, so professional, and really on his P's and Q's of things. 2 minutes before our plates were ready, the place got packed, and more qere arriving to enjoy the delicious Hawaiian I was dying for that day.
I got a combo plate, and the pork was amazing, but the chicken katsu... oh man!!! the best ever, none can compete!!! I have tried many from many Los Angeles Hawaiian restaurants, and believe me... some make it ok, but this place, my dude, has the best chicken katsu I ever tasted! gonna order a side of that just to snack on for my next visit. My girlfriend enjoyed the beef teriyaki, and I also tried a bite of the beef, and it is cooked perfectly! the sauce ratio was good. I'm glad very little sauce is applied in the meat when brought out. the Hawaiian soda I tried was delicious and delightful on my stomach. everything was fresh, amazing, and indeed mostly... worth waiting for.
People... im from L.A. mind you and every L.A. Hawaiian restaurant I ever tried does not compete with this place. I love that it's a small spot and that you can also eat outside if you desire to do so. Overall, 6 stars if I could vote for 6. I wonder who the owner is so I can personally thank them.
Soon, I'll be heading back to enjoy some more, bomb Hawaiian good!!! Heck...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām writing this in the middle of the night because both my friend and I had upset stomachs from this place. We both support small businesses and try to be understanding, but this was something that I couldnāt hold back on speaking up about.
First, letās discuss food. The portions were just so small for what we paid for. I get it, pandemic wise, times can be tough. But, at least provide a decent amount of thoroughly cooked meat. We did not appreciate that the ratio was 90% vegetables and 10% Kahlua Pork. We have eaten Hawaiian food elsewhere and the leaves wrapping the Kahlua Pork is supposed to be edible. Please explain to me why we couldnāt even eat part of our order? My friend had the runs from eating this dish immediately after. This was not okay.
I ordered the chicken katsu mini meal which seemed to be the lesser evil. Yet, it was still so dry that I had drenched it in katsu sauce to make things better. The 1 scoop of rice that came with it looked like it wasnāt even a small bowlās worth. Iām also unsure of why I felt off about the macaroni salad but I think it was one of the things that contributed to my nausea.
I had asked the girl who was working that day for a cup of water with my order, but she forgot. I know it was the dinner rush hour so I didnāt hound her for it. I did appreciate her efforts on trying to sell the $1 macaron but please do train her more to ease it into the convo instead of throwing it out first before we even got to order a meal first. Felt very awkward. I do thank her for checking up on us, but we had no heart to tell her this entire complaint about our food while we were there. We just were so disappointed with the food and wanted to go home.
We definitely will not be eating...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreworst manager Dough and Cashier Nancy. If I could give them a negative 100000000000 stars I would. I only order one regular plate #5 I waited like 5 mins to get help and waited another 20 plus mins and when I asked about my food the Cashier Nancy said it was not ready. This cashier was super slow she took probably like 15 mins to give a customer a drink he had order way before me. It looked like she was requesting the bagās permission to grab and the open it. Anyway, I asked for a refund because I was not about to wait any longer to get a single plate of food. and the girl didnāt even know how to give a refund, she said that she processed the refund and I asked for my receipt and she said that she didnāt know how to get it but gave me her managerās Doughās number. I called him and didnāt answer and he replied back with a text being really aggressive saying that if I am not willing to wait to not go to his restaurant. And that he was going to talk to everyone in the area about me. To me his attitude was the worst he is not a good manager he should be fired and if he is the owner he is awful he shouldnāt be a owner if he canāt handle customers. I am not from the area but I will make sure I never go to this place ever. I will rate this place...
