Smallcakes OC is the best and my most favourite cupcake shop ever! Love everything about it.

Starting from its location! Who wouldn’t love to grab a box and relax by the ocean while enjoying delicious cupcakes. I love how the store looks from the outside, extremely inviting, with it’s cute exterior! This place looks all the more adorable and gives a very cozy feeling when one goes inside. Every wall of Smallcakes is just so perfectly instagram-able!

A wide variety of cupcakes are so beautifully laid out in front of you , which makes it all the more tempting! The cake portion of the cupcake is as moist and flavourful as it can get with the frosting as perfect. I got an assorted box of 12, and I absolutely loved all the flavours, especially the chocolate cream which was so decadent, moist and sinful (but definitely worth sinning on). I wanted to truly indulge on dessert that day, so I thought I would give the “Smallcakes smash” a try, and boy I didn’t regret it one bit. It was a treat to my taste buds and a gastronomical delight. It’s a divine combination of their in house home made ice cream, sandwiched between gourmet cupcakes!

They even undertake customs orders for cupcakes, mini cupcakes and cakes. I love their cupcakes so much that I had mini pink and white cupcakes for an event during my wedding celebrations earlier and I’m going to get some for my best friends bridal shower coming up soon. To make things more exciting, they come up with a special and new cupcake creation every day of the week!

Even the packaging of the cupcake boxes is so well done! A big shoutout to their Instagram page which is always kept so interesting and always makes me eat with eyes first and then keeps me wanting to come back for more. Also Small cakes didn’t forget about your pets, who would love you all the more, for giving them their “pup cake” treats! To allow you to give into your temptations and cupcake cravings, they even bring Smallcakes to your doorstep, via Grubhub, DoorDash, Uber eats and Postmates! I love their website, which is so tastefully done, has a detailed list of their signature cupcake options and icecream flavours for you to choose from.

Last but not the least, the owners are one of the most warm, pleasant and professional people I have come across. They definitely add a personal touch to the whole Smallcakes experience.

A balanced diet is a cupcake in both hands. Money can’t buy happiness but it can definitely buy cupcakes, and that’s pretty much the same thing!

Let me start out with saying that the lady at the counter was amazing! She asked me if I needed utensils or napkins and we talked about the fact this was my first time at this establishment and she presented me with a very warm welcome. Excellent customer service and that's saying a lot coming from me, a customer service veteran for 26 years. Now comes the explanation about my 2 star review. I purchased the Strawberry Cupcake (just 1). Honestly the cake looked and tasted like it was the Betty Crocker cake mix, all the way down to the little red dots in the cake that r supposed to resemble strawberries, which I won't knock Betty Crocker (a confident brand to rely on) but not when ur establishment is advertising a bakery fresh cupcake. The frosting definitely tasted like it was out of the canned frosting with the coating on the back of ur tongue and definitely not a delicious whipped or butter cream that should always accompany any dignified cupcake. It was very artificial and extremely disappointing. Especially for a $5 cupcake, that's right u read that correctly, $5! And it was the size of the small cupcakes that came out of the old standard muffin trays u have in ur kitchen from 1985. All polished off with a dot of a "canned", gelled strawberry "nugget" on top, not even a Real strawberry! This is California! The State Capital of Strawberries! Which by the way for that price I could probably swing making a whole dozen and calling it a day with leftovers. If u just want a cupcake for after lunch for a sweet or u don't want to make the box.... Nahhh just go...

I received a box of cupcakes from Smallcakes and the box said "Happy Birthday, Mom!" -- no sender. I called the place the following day and talked to a very rude lady named Sienna (or something like that -- she refused to spell her name : )

She said she does not have time to check and if she isn't given a name, she couldn't trace the sender. Wasn't even apologetic of the fact that they made a big booboo -- not specifying the sender's name in a gift is so unfair to the sender. The sender is the one who gave you business. When I started giving her my last name (because it could be one of my kids), she gave out a big sigh and said she doesn't have the time. DO NOT THINK OF ORDERING ONLINE FROM THIS STORE. I ended up calling all my kids and asked if they sent me cupcakes. My daughter was so upset that they did not place her name.

UPDATE: - Smallcakes' reply saying that it was the delivery company's fault and not even apologetic just shows this company isn't worth our time, money and effort. Not putting a name on the gift is a mistake, and we all make mistakes, that is fine and excusable. All that was needed at that time was a sorry, an explanation and the willingness to help. But being rude when I called was what made me make this review. No customer service, and the cupcakes are not even worth the price at all. Go somewhere...
