Our visit to Colorado for the Memorial weekend led us to an unexpected culinary delight at Spice of India Restaurant. With an impressive 4.9 rating from 1400 reviews on Google, our curiosity was piqued, and we decided to see if the experience matched the hype. Feeling a bit unsure about what to order, we turned to the owner/manager Ram for recommendations. Ram's confident and gracious demeanor was evident when he offered to cover the tab if we didn't enjoy the meal. With this assurance, we eagerly placed our order. We started with the Gobhi Manchurian as an appetizer, which was perfectly crispy and seasoned. For the entrée, we opted for Lamb Roghan Josh, Kadhai Paneer, Garlic Naans, and rice. The Lamb Roghan Josh was exceptionally tender, and the flavors were simply delectable. The Kadhai Paneer was equally appetizing, making our meal thoroughly enjoyable. Skeptical about the Mango Lassi due to past disappointments with mangoes in the US, we decided to give it a try on Ram's insistence. To our pleasant surprise, it turned out to be one of the best Mango Lassis we've ever had in the US. Beyond the fantastic food, Ram's hospitality stood out. He was incredibly helpful and even offered us suggestions for our weekend hikes, adding to our positive experience. Spice of India Restaurant truly deserves all the praise it receives. The excellent food, combined with the awesome service, makes this place a must-visit. The high rating is well earned, and we look forward to returning on our next trip...

I’m honestly shocked that this place is rated 4.9. My experience was far from what the rating suggests. The food quality was well below average — stale and lacking in flavor. We ordered Gobi Manchurian, Paneer Butter Masala, Butter Naan, and Lemonade. The Butter Naan was so hard and crispy, it felt more like a papad. The rest of the dishes didn’t fare much better.

What made things worse was the service. The manager seemed to only greet and engage with foreign customers. There were a couple of foreigners seated just before and after us, and he checked in on them multiple times. When he finally approached us, it was only at the end of our meal — and after I mentioned the food wasn’t good, his immediate response was to offer a refund. I clarified that it wasn’t about the money, but the quality.

What truly upset me was a rather presumptive and off-putting comment he made, implying that I might not understand North Indian food because I must be from South India. That assumption was not only irrelevant but quite inappropriate. For the record, I was born in North India, and I know exactly how good North Indian food is supposed to taste.

He did waive the charge for the Gobi Manchurian, but the damage was already done — both in terms of poor hospitality and food quality. I left feeling extremely frustrated. If I could, I would give zero stars for both food and service. Definitely not a place I would recommend...

I love Indian Food, I wanted to start out by saying that first to let you know that I am a true connosuir. Sudip the Owner and Manager happily told us that the "food would not disappoint", and it didn't! As a matter of fact it was the absolute best Indian Food I have ever eaten. My family agrees as well including my 10 year old grand daughter! We started our meal with the Vegetarian Samosas. The aromatic spices potatoes and peas couldn't have been more perfect! The flaky pastry dough on the outside was crispy with the perfect crunch. The inside was loaded with tender filling with just the perfect amount of heat from the spices. Our iced tea was a masala chai and was cool and refreshing. We followed with 5 Entrees Lamb and mushroom curry that my wife thoroughly enjoyed. My daughter, grand child and I had Sweet Potato Masala, Vegetable Korma, Daal Tarka, Daal Saag. I was very pleased with the Vegetarian Choices. Every bite was perfectly seasoned and had just the right amount of heat. I am one that can't tolerate a lot of hot spicy food so we ordered it mild and that is exactly what was delivered!! I wish I could give more than 5 stars because this place is a true diamond in the rough! You can taste the love in every bite! I highly recommend! Thank you dear Sudip for an incredible dining...
