This is a TAKEOUT ORDER review. It's expensive but still worth it because it's convenient, food is great, and portions are a decent size. Takeout portion size is probably less than dine in portions, based on the pics I saw. But still enough for you to be full. Food was ready in 30 minutes. I called at 5pm on Thursday.
Online order & pickup is probably an easier way to do it. Hard to communicate on the phone. Hard to pronounce food items and she did not speak English fluently. She was very friendly, though.
I was happy with most of my food. Delicious and not too oily. Good, strong flavors. 👍
BUT I was disappointed that the garlic pepper pork had barely any, only a tiny amount of sauce. BUT the pork was still delicious. Kinda sweet and crispy. But I'm sure more sauce would make it even better!
Another disappointment was the spicy drunken noodles. It barely had any tomatoes or fresh basil. Just some very small pieces of both. I still liked it but wish there were more of both those things. Also, medium spicy level was too spicy for me.
The SUMRAN TOM YUM GOONG (soup bowl) was an ok size and delicious. 4 big shrimp! But EXTREMELY SPICY. I like the strong tom yum flavor and strong LIME flavor. But too spicy and salty for me. Also, it has milk in it, which is kinda weird to me, but you barely taste it.
If you're not sure, try low spicy level, because medium spicy was too intense for me. 🥵🔥 Well, everyone is different and what you would consider spicy is subjective. but for context, I have a low to medium tolerance for spicy food, usually. This is the kind of spicy that sometimes makes you cough like crazy.
Also got Thai tea and fried bananas with ice cream. They were good. The Thai coffee is good but VERY bitter and strong. Kinda like Vietnamese coffee, a lot...
Read moreCame here with some fellow Yelpers before a nearby movie event. Part of the reason why we chose this place was we saw that they had a happy hour on their web site. Alas, when I asked about it I was informed that it was no longer in effect. Boo. The atmosphere is pleasant, with modern decor and soothing music. They have all the usual suspects on the menu so I decided on my usual go-to: yellow curry with tofu. It had good flavor with a bit of heat and I was enjoying it, but then I noticed that there were absolutely no potatoes in the curry. There's usually a few pieces of potato to be found in this kind of curry, and in their menu it's even described as having potato. Suki B, who also ordered the yellow curry, did not see any potatoes either. So when the waiter came around to ask how things were, I told him that there were no potatoes and could he possibly just give us a little bowl of it to add to our curry. He was very apologetic and even offered to give us new bowls of curry, but since we'd already eaten about a quarter of it I didn't think it was necessary and just asked for some potatoes to add. Whew, aside from Potatogate and the other server disappearing at times, we enjoyed our food--it's pretty solid, reasonably-priced Thai food...
Read moreWhile searching for a place that could satisfy my craving for spicy basil fried rice, a dish I had fallen in love with at another Thai restaurant, I found that Sumran Thai Cuisine had exactly what I was looking for - the Spicy Fried Rice, complete with basil, onion, bell pepper, chili, and a choice of protein. I couldn't wait to give it a try. I placed my to-go order on their website, and the order was ready within 15 minutes.
Upon taking my first bite, I was immediately captivated by the explosion of flavors in this dish. The combination of aromatic basil, crunchy onion, and the perfect amount of spice was truly a delight for my taste buds. As someone with a lower tolerance for spiciness, I appreciated that the heat level was just right, providing a satisfying kick without overwhelming my palate.
I would definitely come back for their...
