You may ask yourself, how did they get here? This is not some fancy-schmancy eatery on main street HB, but it sure tastes like it! This place is the very definition of "hidden gem". In more than ten years coming to this restaurant I've never once been disappointed! This is a family owned establishment and they clearly take pride in what they do; from the quality of the food to the cleanliness of the place, and back to the attentive and polite service, you can be assured that you will be taken care of and that your food will be fresh and perfect. Sincerely, do not be fooled by the humble decorating style of the dining area, the styrofoam takeout containers, or the strip mall where it's located; this is top quality, authentic Mediterranean food and you will not find any better in the "fancier" restaurants of O.C. My usual order is the two-skewer lamb kebab plate with baba ghanouj, mediterranean salad or tzatseki as the sides. The rice pilaf is just right, and the garlic sauce is the condiment that elevates everything. The gyro sandwich is also wonderful (pictured cut open so you can see the fillings). I often save half for the next day's lunch. They must be experts at preparing lamb here at Kebab Grill, and I wholeheartedly recommend that you try the lamb kebabs, roast lamb, or the lamb shanks -- give them a chance to impress you with their...
Read morePretty much the Mediterranean equivalent of Chinese take out!
Absolutely solid value and portions. It’s like how Chinese take out spots shovel large amounts of sides and meats into your combo “plate”/box, except with the Mediterranean fixings. My go to is typically the combo shawerma plate with labneh and tabbouleh with rice, but you really can’t go wrong here. The tzatziki is tangy and the wallop of hummus is enough for two plates honestly. I like that they offer fries as an alternative to rice; not sure which is “healthier” given that the rice is a bit oily too, but who cares. The plate also comes with a pita bread; I like to open this up and stuff it with the meats and sides. Flavourwise, everything is well seasoned, which is great as unfortunately, the meats aren’t the juiciest I’ve had. Definitely get a saucy side like hummus/tzatziki to help.
The parking lot is shared across several other shops and is not enormous, so it might be tough to find a spot in busier hours. However, indoor seating is rather vast and great for groups. The service is always nice and they let you try samples before ordering. Protip: if you’re concerned about some calories, be sure to mention not to add extra oil to your hummus!
Kabab Grill is one of my favourite places to fill up on in OC, and I hope it...
Read moreMy favorite place to get Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food.
This small shop is definitely "hole in the wall" type of place but do not dismiss it because of that.
Kabab Grill is a small mom and pop owned shop that serves some pretty great Mediterranean food. I recommend the trying out any of their kabob plates and their half/whole chicken. I found the meat to be very consistently juicy from many of my visits. Their chicken kabob is very succulent and the lamb kabob is very tender and has a fantastic flavor. All of this great meat coupled with some extremely savory rice, and you have a winner.
Of their sides, I have tried the hummus, mediterranean salad, tabboule, and baba ghanouj. All of them were very good. I found the mediterranean salad to be pretty fresh; the cucumbers were still firm and crisp to the bite. You can also ask for extra pita bread free of charge. The hummus is fantastic as well pared with the pita bread.
This place blows Luna Grill out of the water (Though I was not a huge fan of them in the first place) and I think is better than Chicken Maison in Costa Mesa.
Overall, I feel that I found my new favorite lunch place. They are fast with their orders, relatively cheap, and provide great halal food in this...
