We rented the gaming suite for four hours on a Saturday night.
Positives: About the room specifically, It looked really cool. The painted walls looked incredible and the table was great. I liked how there was a separate area underneath for food and drinks. There were also outlets on the table and we could change the lighting. There were even costumes!
More generally, the food overall was pretty good. I loved the flatbreads, and the nachos and hummus were good. I also really liked the druidcraft. I've been once before at the beginning of the year and liked the general vibe, but hadn't been in the room before.
Negatives: Specifically about the room, we came in and had to figure everything out on our own. There was no explanation as to how anything worked. We never actually got the tv working; we even changed the batteries. The website for Thane's Table says that these rooms "allows parties to stream and record sessions", but there was no soundproofing in the walls. The room was quiet enough for us (save for some folks singing "Happy Birthday"), but if I was recording or streaming, the noise definitely would have interrupted the session. The ceiling was also distracting, with a lot of exposed wires. May not be an issue for all, but a couple of people in my group were very distracted by it. We paid almost $100 to play in the room for four hours, so I was expecting something, maybe even a sheet to explain things if staff weren't available, but ultimately wasted time that we paid for to figure out the room. While the website lists some of the features of the room, there was no info about actually operating anything.
More generally, service was lacking. As mentioned, no explanations or instructions were given about the room. We were a group of six and clearly said when ordering that we were going to share everything between us. However, we weren't given separate plates or even napkins. After our food and drinks were served, we were checked in on once. This was simply my impression, but the server seemed rushed even though I only saw one other party there (granted, it was large), which makes it harder to ask for service. I wanted to like the pretzel bites, but they were so hard, I could only have one.
I do like the general vibe of Thane's, but both times we have gone, service has not been good. I want to like it, but a cool vibe isn't necessarily enough for me to continue...
Read moreI am a bit torn on this review. The food, drinks and vibe of this place is all great, however, your service will definitely depend on who is serving you. From my experience, I have had a tan skinned fellow, and a white skinned guy be my server. Tan skinned fellow is amazing, no complaints, he's awesome we always order extra, the Druidcraft and Elemental druid craft, alongside the mac and cheese, and Someone stole your sweetroll, all of these items highly recommend very good.
Now for the bad. I have had the white guy be the bartender for me a few times, and both times he over charged me for things. First time I had him, I got a rootbeer, and one refill. He said there was a refill charge, which I was okay with because the menu says 1 dollar refills on it. So no worries, I go about and end the night later. Only after I realized instead of charging me for a 1 dollar refill, he charged me a full 4 dollars. 8 dollars, for 2 cans worth of soda if that. I chocked it up to maybe he being new and was an honest mistake. I go again, and me and my buddies were excited, we were planning on getting all our favorites, but I started the night off with a soda, not a rootbeer. They are 4 dollars with 3 free refills, before each refill is 1 dollar. Well, he charged me for my first refill. I didn't pay attention, but my buddies did, when he charged them for refills of theirs. They said it says 3 free refills and he drops it. We go up and tell him I shouldn't be charged a refill yet, and he made some excuse for me, and didn't drop the fee. Well even if only a dollar, I don't appreciate being screwed over it. Paired with his slow service, over 20 minutes just to get a pepsi, it basically ruined the excitement we had, and instead of the mac and cheese, someone stole your sweet roll, and the elemental druidcrafts we were looking forward to. We left and just got wendy's.
While I definitely like the place, and I want to support it for the most part. I think if the bartender is trying to screw us over, I am just going to go elsewhere, and would advise everyone to keep track of your tab, to not get charged wrongly...
Read moreSo I don't normally post these, which is why you should believe me when I tell you that my experience here was simply divine. I was visiting some friends in Colorado and I'd heard of this place. A restaurant for geeks What?!? Sounds like my people. WEll let me tell you it was my people! The atmosphere was awesome! They have a couch next to a stone fireplace, felt just like my living room. It is smartly laid out and it felt like we could talk at normal volume even though there was a bit of a crowd. And the waitstaff were amazing and on top of it! I've worked in the restaurant industry for about 15 years so I can see when a night is rough or the waitstaff has lost their spirit. I saw none of that here. We interacted most with Cashlay (ooh I'm sorry doll, I probably murdered that) and Angel, and they were super nice and pleasant. Genuinely seemed to enjoy being there, and they knew their games too. Cashlay (again apologies) helped me find a game to play (we played Cryptid, excellent game highly recommend). It's been a while since I've been in a restaurant where the waitstaff didn't seem beaten down. Speaks volumes for the Owner and how great she is. That's right! She. A woman owned business! As a woman myself, love to see it!
The food and drinks were really great too! We got two flatbreads, the Dark Side, and the Sweet Villian. Guess we had a theme. Anyways they were so good. the crust was perfectly cooked, the cheese wonderfully melty, and that bbq sauce. Mmm chef's kiss. As for drinks I had the Druidcraft. I'm a huge fan of St. Germaine, and this drink was exquisite! the way the flavors evolved with every sip was like a journey through English countryside on a rare sunny day. My girlfriend had a Thane Belmont's Jewel and naturally I took a sip (drank half the drink) and wow that is an aptly named beverage. I'm not much of a Bourbon drinker but the way the citrus mellowed it out and then the huckleberry plays on the tongue. That is a well polished jewel.
I definitely suggest checking out Thane's Table! Thanks for coming to...
