We love Indian food, but this was disappointing. We’ve eaten at other Yak n Yeti locations, and I’m not sure if these are new recipes or dishes that represent styles from other regions of Indian, but we didn’t get what we were expecting at the Westminster location.
The Saag paneer was like a blended spinach and cream soup - hard to recognize that it was spinach, and way too much cream. We chose Indian because it has a lot of vegetarian friendly options and can be more healthy than other take out, but I’m pretty sure any health benefit of the spinach was eliminated by the amount of cream in the dish. The Chana masala’s tomato sauce base wasn’t creamy or thick like we were expecting, more watery and thin. The Alu gobi had an off flavor that wasn’t appetizing. We ordered two things of garlic naan and both were burned (still edible), like they need to clean the oven they cook it in. I also think naan should be like another fork for eating your food, and they make them really small and thin so that was hard to do. To quote my family member, “Naan is really hard to mess up, and it was horrible. It’s the worst naan I’ve ever had.”
For $15 an entrée, I would expect way higher quality of food. Our stomachs were all gurgling the rest of the night from the oiliness (even the rice was oily). The reason this isn’t one star is because the food was ready when they said it would be, and they got our order right. I also feel like the portions of the entrées were good - but the naan portions weren’t big at all.
When we got to the restaurant to pick up our food, it took nearly two minutes for someone to even acknowledge us, even though two men were directly in front of us just outside of the kitchen doing something at the cash register. Just a simple, “hi, someone will be with you shortly,” would have been nice. A girl serving water eventually helped us and was very nice.
It sucks that we spent so much on this food, and we’re probably not even going to eat the left overs. Either improve your recipes, flavors, and textures, or lower your prices. It was not worth what we paid, and we’re willing to spend that much for great, healthy...
Read moreMy first visit would be my last visit to this place! Unfortunately due to what I did to my taste buds today! First alarm was that the place was very dirty, and the booster seat was disgusting! I wanted to give the car seat a bath in the disinfectant once I was back, which I did. I ordered chole bhature ( a popular Indian dish) and the waiter had no clue and I had to point to it in the menu card. Second alarm. Funny thing was I inquired before over the phone if they indeed have the dish and the bread was like the way it's meant to be. But to my shock, neither the chole had any flavor and neither the poori ( bhature). The poori came out like a papdi or papad. Very disappointing!!! . On asking the server, he called in the manager who instantly agreed that this dish is not served as it's meant to be, but apparently Americans like it this way and they have been serving it in the incorrect way since 17 years! Shocking! Even the buffet was terrible. Things were very bad and dirty around, I don't know how this place have been around for 17 years and serving such non flavorful dishes.
People from India, - beware and don't go here or you would ruin your food experience. Restaurant management need to seriously revisit their recipes and the...
Read moreI have been to the Yak and Yeti once, I had the dinner buffet.
The bad: One of the pieces of Tandori chicken had blood in it, luckily I cut into it instead of biting into it. The people who prepared the buffet didn’t set the containers in properly and ended up creating a scolding hot steam zone they set the tongs on and I ended up getting a pretty red burn. At the end of the meal I had to track down a server to get my bill, and when I paid it came up to 35 dollars for 2 people. Not what I would expect to pay for buffet food. The good: Variety, lots of different items on the buffet. Some I had never tried. The food seemed fresh (I arrived as they set up the buffet). All in all it was comparable with the other Indian food restaurants I have tried in the Denver area in regards to taste. It loses points for the lack of attention to detail the staff applies. My visit was also soured by a drunk guy at the bar talking at the staff like he owned the place, he said he was a fixture in the Yak and Yeti, and if he is, I won’t be back.
Edit: This review was written years ago, for the Yak and Yeti. Nice of you to try to throw another restaurant under the bus.
Edit again to explain that when you edit a review, it puts a...
