I took my friend here for her birthday lunch after reading about this strip mall restaurant in an article called “38 essential restaurants in Denver” because it was near where she lived.
I believe my friend ordered Singapore noodle bowl. It was really good. It tasted to me like a combination Vietnamese noodle bowl to me except it was made with a different type of noodle.
I ordered 2 orders of the Asian styled wings (one for each of us) and loved them! The sauce on them tasted a lot of the sweet peanuty Thai “Satay” but a little spicier & with whole peanuts. And the wings were crispy on the outside and moist on inside like a wing should be!
I also ordered the also the dish “Duck Larb” too. I haven’t eaten it before by this name before but have had many similar dishes. I think it’s a Thai dish. I liked it a lot. It was spicy but not too “hot” spicy which is right for this dish served cold with slices of raw cabbage (rather than in lettuce cups as I’ve had similar dishes at other restaurants).
And I ordered the Ginger Fish - a whole crispy deep-fried catfish with a gingery sauce over it and lots of vegetables. At the restaurant, I didn’t like the ginger sauce taste too much, but I grew to like it a lot after I took it home and ate it by itself when it was not competing with the sweeter Asian sauces on other dishes.
We ordered way too much food for 2 people a whole bunch of dishes I wanted to try we made a lunch for 3 out of the leftovers - with still enough from that for me to have another meal.
And I grew to like the ginger fish dish more and more until we finally finished that whole deep-fried fish. I determined the type of fish was a catfish!
Ordering was overwhelming. Neither of us could really use their 1 inch binder menu. It was all photos of the dish and dish’s name. No description of the dish, no price given so didn’t know the country of origin of the menu items which could have been Cambodian, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese Laotian or Malaysian. But looking at the photos of was fun.
I was pleasantly surprised by the tab. It was ~ $90 for these 5...
Read moreLet. Me. Tell. You!!! This place is soooo delicious! I’m from out of town I visited for the first time in 2016, and have been dreaming about it ever since. There’s virtually no Cambodian spots in GA, so once me and my siblings stumbled upon this place, you bet we ordered until our heart’s desire. The menu is a full binder of pictures and has a wide variety of options. It’s super diverse: Chinese, Cambodian, Thai, Lao, American, etc. style food is offered.
In 2016: We got the sach ko ang (lemongrass beef skewers) with pickled veggies, calamari, Cambodian soup (forgot which one), whole fish, and laab. It was a plethora of food and we could barely finish everything between us 3. Our eyes were bigger than our stomach. Haha. But man, everything tasted wonderful. Chef’s kiss
In 2021: Woody’s was literally the first stop after I landed in Denver (well after the smoke shop of course...hehe) I made it a priority to eat here whenever I am in the area. So I finally got to go back recently and try the lemongrass chicken wings. Not even kidding- these are probably the best wings I’ve ever had. The lemongrass sauce has an abundance of flavor and it’s just a unique Khmer/Cambodian taste that you can’t get anywhere else. I utilized every last drop of sauce that the wings were drenched in. I even dipped my sticky rice in it. Peanuts added texture and meshed well with the flavor also. I ate all of the wings alongside some yummy papaya salad.
I definitely recommend this place, wish they had one back home! Until then I’ll be dreaming of those...
Read moreI wouldn't recommend based on our one experience. They didn't have the first two items that my husband ordered. We found this strange since their photo album, er, menu had some items noted as not available but not the two items they he tried to order.
Most of the menu was photos with hard to read names, no obvious prices, no obvious sections so it was hard to decipher. It wasn't because it was Asian, it was just confusing.
I found sometime that I had ordered at other restaurants, bean curd with mixed veggies. I mentioned that I didn't want spices since my husband ordered something similar but his dish specified spicy.
We also ordered egg drop soup which was unlike any other egg drop I had ever seen but interesting enough.
My dish had no sauce. Don't all Asian dishes include some type of sauce unless you ask them to leave it off? It was dry, bland and unappetizing.
I was ill soon after I ate there.
Then the food that was really rather disgusting to me cost over $35.00. Since there were no prices on the menu, this was a little surprising. Maybe it shouldn't have been because they brought large plates of awful food. I won't go back!
Apparently, they are known for their wings, but the photo album, er menu, was so large and had many pages stuck together, I never did see the wings. Remember.......
