We ordered for pick up. When we were ordering we ordered 2 panzerotti and asked for some meat sauce on the side. They said they don't make meat sauce for the panzerotti and if we wanted a side of meat sauce it would be $15. I have been to many italian restaurants and have never been asked to pay $15 for a side of meat sauce. So we wanted meat sauce for our panzerotti we paid it even though we thought it is crazy for a italian restaurant to even tell customers that if they want meat sauce they have to by $15 worth lol unbelievable in my eyes. In fact when it all set in I didn't even eat the food because it just didn't sit right with me that a restaurant would even ask someone to purchase that much sauce for a small panzerotti. I will never order food from this restaurant ever again and will recommend my friends and family never to eat and or order anything from this restaurant ever. Very bad service and management. We threw out our meal and went to Papa Passero's down the road. That was a great...
Read moreThis was my second time coming here. Food is always good and is authentic. It’s small inside so there is limited seating. Mostly a take out place. Prices are typical. Employees were nice. Portions are generous. I read reviews about the pizza, frankly if I wanted pizza I would just go to a pizza place. This restaurant, however, I usually order pasta.
Pollo alla marsala 5/5 - very tasty. Chicken is tender. Sauce goes nice with bread.
Alfredo with sausage 5/5 - Sauce is very creamy. Noodles are not chewy. Sausage is flavorful. Nice blend of spices.
Garlic bread 2/5 - it was ok. I prefer garlic bread to be softer. This one was more chewy and crust was a little tougher.
Tiramisu 5/5 - not too sweet. The first bite will tell you how delicious it is. I wished I had more.
Fried dough 4/5. These are free after you spend $25. There’s a coupon in the takeout menus but you just have to tell them.
Items I’ve tried the first time.
Bolognese 5/5 Linguine allo scoglio...
Read moreAt about 5:30pm, I found myself in Darien, Il on work-related tasks and decided to have dinner before heading back to Chicago so as to avoid rush hour. I googled "Best Italian near me" and Italiamo popped up as an option. Lot's of good reviews. So off I went. I was NOT disappointed. What a GEM! Now, I was by myself so I only ordered one dish...the eggplant parmesan and it was PERFECT, served with piping hot pasta, homemade sauce. Now, I can't speak for the rest of the menu, but as someone who owned a restaurant for 23 years, I can tell when things are done right. And based on other reviews, I suspect the other menu items are just as good. The only caveat which I must mention is Italiamo is not a family dining restaurant. It is totally geared for takeout with only seating of a few bar stools inside. Perhaps they put tables outdoors with warm weather... I don't know. But I do know I will visit this wonderful little restaurant every time I out in this part of...
