Don't be fooled by the name, this is nothing more than a diner... And not a great one at that.
Food gets a generous 3 out of 5, it wasn't bad, but definitely wasn't anything to write home about.
Where they really fall short is service. When we were there, which was midday, it was not crowded, maybe 30% of the tables were occupied.... Maybe. There were seemingly plenty of wait staff tho, definitely enough where you shouldn't have to wait 10-15 minutes for someone to come over for the first time... After you've had to wave down an employee, who looked at you, definitely thought about not coming over because it wasn't their table, but begrudgingly walk half way over only to tell you they would get your server who didn't come around for another 5 minutes
So, 20 minutes or so after first sitting down the server took our order, and that was basically the last time we saw her. The food and drinks came out in a standard amount of time, we ate, finished, then waited... And waited.... And waited some more. After sitting with empty plates for another 10-15 minutes, and trying to flag down one of the several other employees who were standing around joking with each other, but obviously too busy to attend to customers, I had to get up and ask the hostess for our check, which I felt bad doing since it interrupted her Tiktoking, or messaging, or whatever she was doing on her phone. But she was nice and said she would get our check.
About 5 minutes later the check appears, and this is where this establishment really should be shamed. At the bottom of the bill, in relatively small print is an additional 3% service charge for "credit card convenience." The total actually INCLUDES the 3% already, which is both shocking that this company is pawning off their agreed credit card fee on patrons which they are supposed to pay, and its probably illegal. Either way, it sucks, and many people will probably glaze over the small sum, and just pay the bill with their credit card; which btw, its never mention that there is an additional fee for using a credit card except in the small print at the bottom of the bill.
So we decided to avoid the fee and paid cash; and what do you supposed happened next? Of course the change they brought back didn't exclude the credit card "convenience fee," meaning they are clearly trying to skim patrons on this fee regardless of using a credit card or not.
Westwood is clearly a nice town, there are plenty of nice restaurants... I'd recommend ANY of the others before Farmhouse. Save your money and time, and get better...
Read moreI went on a Sunday afternoon with my boyfriend and dog to grab some lunch. I made it clear I had a dog and asked for a table outdoors. She offered a table with no umbrella or wait 20 to 25mins for one with a cover outside. It was rather sunny so we waited for about 25minutes patiently. While we waited one of the waitresses was so kind and brought out a plastic bowl of water with ice for my pooch. It was great. After waiting we were seated. We waited for someone to take our order for about 10 to 15minutes. The same nice waitress who brought the water for my dog asked if we were being taken care of. We responded no and she began to take our order. While we’re in the middle of our order a man abruptly walks up to our table and asked us if he was a service dog. I responded and said no and then he said we have to leave because he’s not a service dog. We were both confused because we did not know this individual nor did he address himself on who he was. I thought he might have been a customer in the restaurant who was annoyed with an animal close by even though my dog never barked. The waitress addressed him as the owner of the restaurant. He said we had to leave because he cannot accept my dog because then he would have tons of dogs running around the restaurant. I explained to him that I spoke with the hostess and made sure she knew I had a dog. He said she made a mistake and thought he was a service dog. We had to leave immediately after. I completely understand the rules, however the owners awful approach in the situation shows his lack of interpersonal communication skills. Not once did he address whom he was nor was he apologetic about us wasting 40minutes of our time. I’ve been to this cafe several times for personal and work meetings and have recommended it to others. I won’t be going here anymore nor will it be recommended. As a business owner the quality of the food is not the only thing that matters. The way you treat people says a lot about how you stand as a...
Read moreDefinitely 4.5 stars. I've been here a few times, I will definitely be here more.
Pros: There are all kinds of signs in the key of 'We are understaffed, please be patient.' They are definitely not understaffed, but you should please be patient in general.
Cons: This one time, I asked for unsweetened iced tea with lemon and someone decided to fill the WHOLE CUP with ice and dribble some iced tea inside. I was frustrated, my server was like FURIOUS when I asked her for another with about 1/4 as much ice (she wasn't angry at me, she was all "WHY did they do that????" when I showed her the "CUP OF ICE")
I had their steak and eggs dish once (sizzle!!!!) and will definitely do so again. I've had their Juevos Rancheros twice, and loved the dish both times.
Their menu has a statement at the top that made me shy. It's something along the lines of 'don't redesign our dishes.' I get that, I can definitely respect that. This is why I didn't ask to replace their potato option on the steak and eggs to just having fries (I fantasize having that dish with fries). However, with the Juevos Rancheros, they happily omitted the avocado at my request (Don't hate, I don't judge you avocado lovers), and the first time, they gave me extra beans instead. The only reason they didn't do it the second time is that I was too afraid to ask.
Check out their menu. If anything on it looks good 'as is', check it out. If you see something you'd like with some tweaks, well, I can't say they'd accommodate, but I can say they'll give you extra beans in place of the avocado you definitely...
