What a disgrace We were chased out to my car by the supposed "owner (as if we stole something) for not tipping on a bill. She came running to our car to scream at us that her waiter provided a service, and we should have left a tip. We ordered salmon sashimi and the waiter served salmon sushi over rice. Not a big deal at all, and we didn't need to send it back because we don't like sending food back (for multiple reasons. When the bill came, questioned the $20 charge, and the waiter said it was the same price for salmon sashimi as the salmon over rice (which didn't make any sense since the salmon sashimi pieces are much larger). Not to mention, the waiter was really nasty about it when I questioned the charge. The "owner" chased us out to the parking lot to reprimand us that we didn't leave a tip. I said I'm sorry, but l've been coming here for years. Not only have I never seen or met you before, we always make sure to leave a beyond generous tip, even for take out. This time, I was disappointed with the service aside from the mistake. I'm sure glad I didn't tip - she literally came out to scream at us for not tipping, and made an analogy to "shopping at Neiman Marcus, and that if you buy clothes you pay for them," which made no sense at all because we paid for the food! The "owner's" complaint was that we didn't tip, and I'm giving you the reason. She said we should have sent the food back so that they could serve it to someone else! I made it very clear to her that we PAID for our food and bill in full, and that I think it is both completely wrong and disgusting to take food back and serve to someone else (but thanks for letting me know how you operate, and we will make sure to never come back again)! I made sure to tell her I'd be writing this review so others know how the place operates. Would you like to eat food from someone else's table? It takes a lot of balls to chase returning customers down through the parking lot as they are entering their car, for not leaving a tip that wasn't deserved! Maybe take the time to train your staff, and not be unsanitary and take food off someone's table and serve it to someone else! So happy for this experience, as l'll never step foot into this place again. hope this makes you rethink whether you should eat from this unsanitary,...
Read moreI dined in with my little sister for her birthday. She loves Hanami and would go quite often with my family. Today though our server was not friendly (the male server with glasses). I am highly allergic to sesame and I’ve had no problems with them before regarding my allergy but today I just let him know about it just so he could let the kitchen know but he proceeded to tell me in a not so nice way that there’s no sesame seeds in the chicken fried rice. Last time I checked sesame allergy does not just mean sesame seeds, it includes sesame oil etc. Instead of making their customer feel reassured, he decided to just dismiss what I said. I also asked if it was okay if my sister and I got the avocado on the side for the roll we were sharing and again instead of saying “not a problem”, he proceeded to sigh and scratch his forehead as if I was asking for TOO MUCH. To end our visit I let him know that it was my sisters birthday so he could come to the table with a candle to sing happy birthday and he interrupted me and started walking away from me saying “ok ok ok i’ll bring a scoop of ice cream or something” so I had to stop and tell him to wait and that we would like the chocolate soufflé and that I would be paying for it. He honestly just didn’t seem to care at all about what I had to say and it was just disappointing. I work at a restaurant myself and this is not the way to treat a customer. My family has never had problems with them before but tonight was not a great dinner with that server. My sister enjoyed her food though which was the most...
Read moreI wanted to love this place, as my family goes there regularly and raves about it. While my Mongolian red curry dish (a special that night) was good, even with being salty, and everyone else's dish portions were huge and they loved them for the price, some of the other things about the restaurant pushed this review down to 3 stars.
We were a party of five and they sat us in a booth made for 4 people with one person sitting at the head of the booth table, making for an uncomfortable seating arrangement. Initially when we asked to be put at another table we were told no. They did eventually try to accommodate but at that point we were already settled. The appetizers my husband and I got, spring rolls and steamed dumplings, were average but nothing fantastic. Honestly, the spring rolls were more roll than stuffing. The wait staff overall was pretty lack luster, we waited a substantial amount of time For water and no one at the table had any knives provided, just forks. When someone in my party asked for a knife it took substantial time for it to arrive at the table so he could eat his man course. Same goes for the rice that was accompanying our meals. While not everyone's rice was important for my curry dish it was key, it arrived more than 5 minutes after our food was served. While not a big deal normally I was waiting for it to actually begin eating my meal. Also, for parties of 5 or more they mandate an 18% gratuity which was completely bizarre.
If my family wanted to go back I would, but not sure my husband and I would go there just...
