I had been wanting to try this place but could never actually get to because Full Key down the street is my all time favorite go-to. And it's hard to be so close to Full Key and not go!
A friend was flying into town super late night and starving, Paul Kee was the only Chinese place open in the neighborhood. So perfect opportunity to finally try them out.
We walked into an empty restaurant. It's not super clean, and doesn't smell that lovely. But since it was empty we thought service would be quick and painless. Not so much. We ordered two bowls of shrimp dumpling noodle soup, chicken congee and Chinese broccoli with garlic. Easy orders right? The noodle soups came out in a semi-reasonable but were SO bland. The congee was decent, but came out when the noodle soups were already demolished. And the Chinese broccoli never came. By the time, we could our server to help us - she let us know that she had never placed the order in. We ended up canceling the Chinese broccoli since our food was already gone, and we were over it.
The prices are reasonable.
But for the quality, taste and service. Not worth it. Even if they are open late, not worth it.
Full Key down the street has them...
Read moreAtmosphere was non existent. Bright lights, no music or candles. Several employees standing near the restroom hallway were talking and laughing loudly speaking what must have been Chinese language. Food was just okay. Parts of the meal were not good at all. We had to ask for condiments usually served with the meal. Service was somewhat rude and inattentive. However when we paid with cash, the server thumbed through the bills, expressing the tip was too small. Sorry we don't give a big tip for a very bad experience. Not to mention there was someone different whenever we motioned for someone to service our table. I heard this place has been around for a long time so we were hoping for a really good experience but very disappointed instead. I don't understand how this place was still in business. However, there was a staircase off the back staircase, maybe there was some...
Read moreBeen coming to Paul Kee for many years. We boycotted the “old” Paul Kee for a couple years but the new and improved restaurant is worth writing about.
The food is still really good. Prices are slightly less or comparable to other Chinese restaurants in the area, which we appreciate!
Favorite dishes: -Crispy beef -deep fried pork chops -French beef steak -seafood pan fried noodles -any of their noodle soups
The servers we had tonight were more pleasant than the ones we’ve had in the past.
The roasted duck was sold out when we came in at 7:30pm on Saturday. So if you’re set on having that dish, come earlier or call to ask.
Parking in the front is horrendous and the back is a hit or miss.
I hope they will thrive and continue to serve up delicious Chinese food for many more...
