I came in during the weekday, around 5:15, about a month ago. There was not one person in sight. I said hello a couple of times without any replies. I dodged traffic on Arlington Heights Road to park at the lot across the street so I was committed to buy.
I placed my order at the kiosk. Waited for someone to come out to greet me or pack my order. I was the only person in the store. Approx. 5 mins later a girl popped out of the back wearing a T-shirt, called my name (yes - there was still no other customer in the store) handed me a box, and didn’t say anything else. I asked her for a bag so I wouldn’t lose my mochi donuts as I dodged traffic on AH back to my car. She bagged up my box and handed it to me.
There was no hello, no thank you, no have a good day, not a sound except for my name. For about $40 a DOZEN (after tax), I would have expected some sort of customer service.
I really hope this was a one off, not the normal for business. The donuts were good. They were fresh and chewy. The flavors popped and were a nice treat.
However, for the cost and lack of customer care, I’m going to keep looking for another mochidonut location. At almost $4 for a donut, come out and say HI! The owner needs to do better at...
Read moreMochinut Arlington Heights is amazing. The staff is great. The store is very beautiful and in a good location.
I've had every item on their menu from the donuts to boba teas. Their donuts change weekly so I have tried some of the specialty donuts but not all.
Overall the hotdogs are very good but the donuts and boba teas are waaayyyy too sweet.
The brown sugar boba is my favorite, but it's literally filled with brown sugar. My favorite hotdogs are the potatoe one and the hot cheeto one. The ones with cheese are too thick for me. I feel like I'm suffocating on mozzarella when you eat it. It's like never ending cheese.
Also, the spicy mayo on the hot cheeto hot dog is too much. This is my personal opinion. Some may like that but I find it makes the hot dog super soggy and too much breading.
But I also think this depends on who's cooking that day.
Overall, I love this place and I will return....
Read moreGot 1/2 a dozen (just 1 of each from the top display), an ube bubble tea, and a mango lychee fruit fizz.
The girl behind the counter was super helpful and friendly, and the guy who was running supplies / trash out seemed genuinely happy to be there (doesn't impact the food, but it was refreshing).
As for the mochinuts, I only remember 4 of the 6 flavors
They were: Ube churro (excellent, would order again)
Raspberry (very strong flavor, was good, but not my thing)
Hawaiian (pineapple, strawberry, coconut, I think? Also delicious would order again)
Ube (something with a 'P', had a purple glaze, very subtle flavor, was hoping for a stronger taste).
The texture was interesting, not a standard donut for sure, but i thought it was good. They just opened one closer to me, I look forward to having...
