Bear Town Bar & Grill - White Bear Lake, MN #wings #foodreview

We have been to numerous bar breakfasts and usually they are just OK for what they are. Cheap and just average food to help with a hangover or needing to play pull tabs in the morning. Bear Town far exceeded that expectation with their breakfast. The food was great, and Bloody Mary and coffee hit the spot. Crispy hash browns that wasn’t overly greasy and I loved the jalapeño hollandaise sauce that was served with my breakfast sandwich to dip in. Pull tab booth was open at 9am. Definitely worth a stop if you need something different for breakfast but was hesitant about going to a bar!

Had the fish fry, excellent! Sides and salad were great. Reasonable price. Cozy. Clean bathroom. Drinks went from $2.75 to $8.00 after happy hour. WAY too expensive for a simple cocktail in my opinion. I would NOT recommend coming here for drinks. Service wasn't fast, but it wasn't too slow. Nice patio. I will definitely be back to try other things on the menu. I hear the wings and ribs are good. I'll revisit this review and change my star rating if the rest of the food matches this experience.

We have eaten at this restaurant multiple times over the years and the food not great, but good. Last two visits though I had to track down the waitress after waiting a very long time to pay my bill which was quite annoying, but I never complained.

What is annoying however, is when my family member calls ahead for a reservation, is told reservations are NOT accepted, then shows up with his family for morning breakfast only to see entire areas marked "Reserved"? Discrimination perhaps?

Unable to be seated inside with his family, including 2 small children 4 and 6 years old, they leave only after expressing his disappointment and displeasure over the "Reserved" subject.

Thereafter, he posts a review online sharing the negative experience only for the Bear Town owner to counter post negative comments towards him as if he had done something wrong?

Then the owner posted that they had solicited feedback from local regular customers in the restaurant at that time who allegedly "confirmed the rudeness of my relative"? Seriously? You actually felt it necessary to interview your customers? Who does something like this? Weird....

Then to further escalate this matter, the business owner has a "server" employee ( a relative of ours), track down my relatives telephone number and call them to complain even further? All of this over a simple matter of posting an honest complaint online?

Don't you think it would have been wise to just say "Thank you for your honest feedback, please contact me personally, I would appreciate the opportunity to resolve your concerns"...But no, you chose to take a hostile position, refuse to accept responsibility, involve your innocent patrons AND have an employee get involved by making a telephone call to the customer. I have NEVER seen anything like this...EVER!

Additionally, I perused your online customer reviews noticing you allow "faintly mild" negative comments to remain online and then showing your resolution responses, BUT, you delete the comments that are NOT in your favor such as the comments left by my relative, which by the way were NOT hostile or untruthful...AND DELETED BY YOU.

I seriously question how can the public trust you if you censor your reviews?? Answer...they cant!

If you want to earn the public trust, you must first allow for open, honest customer feedback to be published and then show the public your response to these customers showing resolution to both parties favor.

As the old saying goes, good news travels fast but negative news travels faster...As a long time widely connected local WBL resident, WBL BNI member and employed in WBL, I for one will not be promoting your establishment or visiting your restaurant again.

You need to start valuing honest customer feedback as an opportunity to improve and... start being honest with both yourself...

Sorry, you have to use sauce for any flavor on the wings, and they use Franks hot sauce...please. Also had the pizza...one word.. Sad. Who ever leaves 5 out of 8 slices behind? Me. We ate here because of multiple 5 out of 5 Stars. I'm being graceful with leaving 2 stars. I should have taken my wife to Jersey Mike's Subs.

Added after the fact... I was being kind. You want the full story? Well... I left 5 slices of pizza behind because it was tasteless...why take home poor quality pizza? I've left one other unhappy review to ONE other restaurant...not multiples...and they to were not interested in costumers satisfaction. Service sucked. When I asked your server about your buffalo sauce, she said... "You know...Franks...that's the sauce where you put that "shit" on everything"...factual quote. You train your servers to use curse words with you money paying customer's? When I asked for parmesan cheese, I waited 10 minutes untill I asked another server... I had to drink my wife's soda because your servers were nowere to be found It's not that you were busy either, there were only two other tables eating in your dinning room. I'm not negative. I expect good food and good service, I didn't get either. Oh, and just for kicks, I still left a Decent tip because I'm a nice guy. You on the other hand, use poor excuses for poor factual service and poor quality food. Im now being honest and leaving only one star because it's more accurate. Take responsibility... Get...

MONDAY NIGHT BINGO!! I played here the week before for the first time! I had no problems. Today 5/20 I walked in to find a spot. I went the bar and put two daubers in the empty space. When I came back a guy moved them over and then bartender tells me he need his top spender right here. He didn't know what I would order. I moved and kept calm. So I asked waitress for a table she said it's one in back..so I sit down waiting on bingo to start the waitress tells me it's a $15 minimum like really like I never heard of such. The Bingo cards wasn't even passed out yet so again how would she know what I'm spending. I hate using the race card but because I wasn't a regular here or a certain color my money was no good here. I will contact the bingo board and tell them how rude I was treated. Unacceptable in 2024. The bartender never even gave me a chance to order so that's not what I was doing. No apologies or nothing*update the owner contacted me and we had a nice conversation and we came to the conclusion that it was his staff and not the business and he will talk to them. He gave me a $30 gift card but it still didn't sit right with me so I contacted MDHR. THEY are reviewing the incendent. What I don't understand is why would the owner lie about the situation? The truth will...
