We have always been regulars visiting Lascari's. So with 19Seventy, our expectations are now different and negative. We went there yesterday to celebrate a birthday and were seated right away. When our drinks were being served, the server spilled my Aunt's cocktail plus another drink all over her. The server got frazzled and other employees came to assist. The manager came out and apologized plus offered a brand new staff shirt to change to. So that changed the mood of the lunch altogether not to mention the "off hand" comments from the manager which I thought was inappropriate. The same server started getting our orders and skipped asking my husband's lunch order. To be honest, the food was a let down - with something as $$$ as they were charging, you would expect good flavor and not overdone noodles in a pasta bowl! A 12" pepperoni pizza for $24 - incredulous! When was marinara sauce sweet?? As we were winding down our lunch, the server kept coming back to "check" on us while holding "to go" box - it felt that she was rushing us to leave. She then started handing out individual lemon cheesecake cups which looked like it was sitting in their fridge overnight. We got a complimentary birthday dessert as well which was also very lackluster and one note. The least this restaurant would have done is offer to cover for our entire meal. They only gave us a 10% discount in our bill which is a slap to our faces. They try to be upscale and posh with their new look, but service and food is the key here - they completely missed the mark on this one. There was no empathy from either the server as what had happened. Thanks for ruining what was suppose to be a fun celebration and ending in disappointment. Do you think getting free dessert will change things? Don't expect for us to comeback to this restaurant at all. I will make sure to tell all my Whittier friends about...
Read moreWe came here for lunch on a Saturday. As I walked in, I was surprised to see that it was nothing more than a modern diner. It was very plain and nothing special to see. My hopes were high that it would look and seem like a fine dining establishment but it definitely wasnât that. I saw the desserts to my right as I walked in and definitely was not impressed. It wouldâve been nice to see something a little bit more unique like zabaglione. We sat down and looked at the menu and became even further unimpressed. Their drinks were nice, but the food menu had a lot to be desired. I saw very little seafood and nothing that stood out and was really appetizing me other than just average Italian dishes that they make look a little prettier. We ordered the Bruschetta and it lacked flavor and only came with four tiny pieces of dried, thin toast. There was not nearly enough toast for the amount of tomatoes that came with so it went to waste. The plate looked good with the different types of heirloom tomatoes, but definitely had no flavor. It was a very cheapened version of bruschetta.
I ordered the chicken marsala and as a dish that I normally order in an Italian restaurant, I can say that the chicken was cooked very plainly and the noodles were thick and unappetizing. I only had a few mushrooms sprinkled on the marsala sauce. The sauce was too thick and made with too much flour. It also had a slight kick which I donât find appropriate for Marsala.
When we got there, it was very quiet, but soon after a bunch of people came in with a lot of loud kids and it became unbearable to even sit there and enjoy a meal together as the space is wide open with no place to hide.
I definitely donât think weâll be back and itâs too bad because I really had high hopes for a new...
Read more9.5/10 Absolutely loved coming here. Our server Alex was extremely friendly and made sure everything we ordered was halal friendly. She answered all of our questions and was extremely attentive. It was great meeting chef David as well. Enjoyed chatting with him about the halal options âŚhope to see more halal friendly menu items in the future.
Now letâs get to the food. Everything was exceptionally tasty. The meatballs were juicy, the bread they are sitting would not be missed it it was removed đŤŁ. Replacing it with garlic bread on the side would be a great move (mini meatball subs đ¤). The fried mozzarella was a classic. Chicken Alfredo pizza was a must! Absolutely delicious, and if you get it and think the chicken is pink /undercooked. Itâs not. Chef explained the color is due to the sumac marinade which is extremely delicious. The short rib pappardelle was a smash. The pasta has the perfect amount of bite, and the short rib was tender.
Dessert was yum! The chocolate mousse raspberry cake was the perfect amount of sweet. Just wish it was served on a different bowl/plate it was hard to scoop up. The chocolate tart was my favorite.
Overall, one of the best new restaurants Iâve tried in forever. Would 100% come back here for the service and the food.
A note for my halal friendly friends: if you order the short rib pasta - youâre going to have to let them know that you donât consume alcohol - you also wonât be able to actually partake in the table side service as the cheese wheel has been used to flambĂŠ with alcohol
Hopefully in the future there are two cheese wheels, one for the halal friendly version and one for the regular version of the...
