Los Abuelos Mexican Restaurante — Restaurant in Wichita Falls

Here is the stitch, Los Abuelos HITS! LOVED LOVED LOVED this place, it reminds me of a restaurant I used to visit as a child, BUT so much better! This is definitely one of those places where they say don't judge a book by the cover 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The green salsa SLAPS, the red salsa, chefs kiss, it was delicious and before we knew it we needed more chips. I asked for a recommendation on either flautas or enchiladas, the guy was like for sure chicken flautas and he did not lie, they were DELICIOUS 🤤 not sure what my mom got, but the chicken was extremely juicy and well seasoned, so good and the beans and rice were delicious (my brother kept making bean burritos with the tortillas). And they have these tortillas which are homemade that were bigger then my big headed brothers head, so good yall. All in all, we had a great time, our server was kind and patient with us and knowledgeable on the food served, the atmosphere was great, they were playing the old school mexican bangers and the FOOD, the food was delicious. Love this place, hope to make this the after graduation place to go to afterwards, because the whole vibe of the restaurant is awesome....

Went here based on Google reviews. The food is good but not good enough to overlook the obvious.

The place is hot and FILTHY. The floors are sticky and dirty, the chairs are sticky and have black debris in the cracks, and did I mention the heat? They keep it too warm.

They also have an issue with flies. And the best part? When you go to check out, after you've eaten, you get a gander at the kitchen. Omg. Sticky fly paper hanging from the ceiling full of dead flies (where there are that many flies there are maggots), dirt, grease and Lord knows what else everywhere. I was so shocked I couldn't even take a photo.

I feel bad for pointing this out because the people seemed nice. No way that place would pass a health inspection tho. One of my party refused to eat after his food came because he saw the kitchen after he ordered when he got up to go to the car for his phone.

Should have known. No business on a Friday night at 7pm?! We were literally the only people there.

The food gets very high marks. The molcajete was really good. For 23 dollars it's a lot of food, really enough for 2 people to eat. Chips and green salsa was really good. Queso wasn't the greatest, but everything else made up for it. We went around Noon on Sunday and it was our first time going. As great as the food was, the service was absolutely terrible. Asked for chips multiple times, got some after the 3rd time time of asking. Never got one refill at all on our waters. Asked at least 3 times for that. They brought out the wrong food the first time they came out after about 20 minutes and then had to wait another 20 minutes for our actual food to come out. Noone ever came back to check on things or offer a box or anything. Had to go stand up in front in a line at the counter to ask for boxes and just paid while I was up there too so I didn't have to come back up to do that. It was our first time here, so not sure if the service is always a issue or it was just a bad day to come. Will be back because the food was very good, but if the service doesn't improve, can't see this being a place that...
