Update: Sasha, the event coordinator, called me & apologized for this occurrence. She promised to speak to those working that evening. She also wrote me a very nice letter. It was refreshing to have someone who cared enough to call me & try to remedy the situation.

Our company reserved out (3) of the pickleball courts last Friday from 6-8PM for about 30 of our employees (Reservations were requested & contract signed on Monday of that week). We were greeted by the host, a server, & a Pickleball trainer. They had a sign posted with our company name & a water station for our employees to share. Everything seemed fine - it was a perfect cool, crisp Fall evening & we were excited for the company event.

However, after our employees began filtering in at 6PM the first signs of issues began to crop up. First, neither the server or trainer were anywhere to be found. I had to go grab our server to begin taking food/drink orders. Unfortunately, he could only find two food menus that everyone had to share (not a big deal to share, but you would sure think they'd have a couple more menus prepared for such a large group). Finally the server begins taking our orders, but he doesn't have a pen/pad to write anything down. Once again he disappears for several minutes. This time he returns & only takes a couple orders before disappearing again! Meanwhile, we decide to go ahead & start playing Pickleball. But our trainer was absolutely nowhere to be found - in fact we never saw him for the entirety of the evening. Luckily several of our employees had previous experience playing Pickleball & taught everyone the rules best they could. We did begin to receive the 3 or 4 orders that were initially placed, but the waiters/waitresses who delivered the orders couldn't take any additional orders. We requested our server to come back and take down more orders, but once again he was nowhere to be found. At this point, many of our employees were frustrated enough that they just walked to the main building (which houses the restaurant) & put in their own orders for food & drinks. Meanwhile we've been playing Pickleball for about an hour & the water station has not been refilled even once (nor was it refilled the entirety of the evening). It felt like our entire company party of ~30 people basically got shoved in a corner & forgotten about. Neither our server, host, or trainer was seen for the entire last hour of our reservation (7-8PM). Not once were drinks refilled, additional orders taken, checkup on how things were going - nothing! At 8PM we were promptly notified our reservation was over & that we needed to leave for the next party that had rented the courts.

The entire evening was some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I've been to this Chicken & Pickle location many times over the years & have always enjoyed the experience & the atmosphere. Whether it was coming with my family for a meal or with friends to enjoy a game of Pickleball - it has always been a very pleasant experience. However, this time Chicken & Pickle really dropped the ball. I will be hard pressed to recommend C&P for any upcoming events at our...

We went here with our soccer team while in town for a tournament so that the kids could play pickleball and hang out with each other afterward. We sat outside at the picnic tables in the corner behind the bocce ball. We had three servers that came through to help us. We were told we could order appetizers and drinks from them but if we wanted other food we had to go inside and order.

We proceeded to order an appetizer since we had a free one from signing up for the app. I let the server know and she took down the code. My appetizer came about 30 minutes later and I was told by the person that delivered it that half of my chips blew away while he was bringing it to me. Next time I saw our original server I told her what happened and she said she would get us more. She never came back.

I went inside to order meals and then went back to my table. When the food came out the fries were cold so we didn't end up eating them and the rest of the meal just wasn't great. By the time we saw a server again our drinks were empty and we were done eating what we could stomach of our meals. She realized she didn't bring us the chips and asked if I still wanted them even though she was "sure the dip was cold now." I told her not to worry about it but asked for a refill on my drink. She never came back with one. I proceeded to flag down two other servers and ask for a refill. Neither one ever came back.

I never received a check so I had to hunt someone down to close my tab. When I finally went to the bar to close it I was assured that the appetizer was taken off since I had the reward in the app and my card was swiped even though I never was given a bill to look at. I asked for my copy of the receipt because it seemed high. Upon looking at it I was charged for the appetizer, and the drinks of the people next to me. I had to go find a manager to fix it and was told that they couldn't find my tab even though I had handed them the receipt. I was offered a gift card for what I was over charged but told them I don't live in town and that we don't have a Chicken N Pickle back home. She said "well nevermind then" and managed to find my tab. Overall after the adjustment my bill went from $69 down to $37. That is a very large difference to have mistakenly...

I was asked to plan a team event for our soccer team that was in Wichita for a tournament. I called the prior week to be sure they could seat our 38 people. They quickly said yes like it was no big deal. I booked our 3 courts online with no problem. When we arrived I asked the hostess again to confirm that in 45 minutes when we were done playing pickle ball, they could seat 38 people. She said yes, no problem. We checked in to courts with no problem and right on time played our 30 minutes. Wait staff that served our spectator parents were great! After our court time expired we went to the restaurant side. The SAME hostess, who had just told me (and a couple other parents I was with) 45 minutes prior that we could be sat with no issues now seemed clueless as to how they were going to accommodate the 38 people now standing in the lobby waiting to be sat. When I addressed it with her, she stood there smiling and nodding and DIDN'T SAY 1 WORD!!! It was ridiculous I was saying "I just asked you and you told me you could seat 38 people". She continued to stand there, smile and nod WITHOUT SPEAKING. Literally would not reply to my questions about why she told me 45 minutes prior that our group size could be sat. This was 7/7/23 at 5:30p. MGR: Please reassign that hostess to a different job...you do not want her to be the "face" of your establishment. The manager apologized that when I called the prior week AND when I confirmed 30 prior, I was not told they would need to notify management and block reserved tables. So we had our party of 38 (parents and teens) all standing around with nowhere to sit. It took them 15 minutes to scramble together and clean recently vacated tables. Our team was not able to sit together and a few of our families left out of frustration. This was our team's last dinner together because most have already graduated HS. It was supposed to be fun. The girls did have a great time playing pickle ball! Check in was easy, quick and they run a tight ship with court timing so you don't have to worry about running behind. I highly recommend reserving pickle ball courts for groups! That was ran well and super fun for our families! But skip the restaurant and go somewhere that has more...

I’ll preface this by saying my family has hit the Chicken & Pickle in KC had had a good experience. We were in town for a soccer tournament so our team rented one of the outdoor covered areas to let the our kids relax and have some fun with all the outdoor games and pickleball. When we arrived our server told us to expect some slower service as they only had 3 bartenders working on drinks. We ordered and while the wait wasn’t terrible for drinks it was extended. Food- This was biggest issue on our end. We ordered pickle chips and deviled eggs for apps. Both were normal and while arrival took 30 mins it was fine as our group was chatting. When it came to order our main course we were admittedly on the tail end of our groups order. I ordered BBQ wings and a single flat burger for my son and myself. We waited for a while and eventually other people within our group all received their food; yet ours never did arrive. We asked our waiter to check on it and he said that he would. As the night was ending our server brought out everyone’s checks including ours. The problem is we still hadn’t received our food. I should’ve told the waiter to just take the food off our bill at that point and gotten food elsewhere. Instead we asked for the order to be made to-go and for extra ranch since we were going to have to eat at the hotel. Our food did arrive eventually but without any ranch for the wings and the wings were naked instead of BBQ. Our server told us that the restaurant had run out of it and multiple other condiments. Rather than cause our group to wait any longer (they were nice and waiting with us) we took our food and left with the group and ate in our hotel room. While the concept is awesome and we understand the draw to it, the execution was poor overall for our group. 3 bartenders on a a Saturday night and our server covering multiple awnings isn’t enough. Additionally watching others eat, then receiving your tab before you actually receive food is far less than ideal.

I went here with my family a couple times recently and have mixed feelings. The food: The rotisserie chicken was incredibly good with the house seasoning! It comes with a tortilla, some avocado, and a Serrano pepper. I supposed they expect you to rip the chicken apart and make your own burrito with it? However, I preferred to enjoy the chicken by itself. My wife had the chicken Caesar wrap with crispy chicken, and it was good. We also had the smoked wings with house seasoning (which is not spicy) and it was also delicious. The atmosphere was great. There is way more seating than I expected. Granted, the nearly perfect weather helped significantly, as there is a lot of seating outside. They have TV's inside, and a separate room with a wall FULL of TV's, but the volume was turned up to a deafening level. There are 6 outdoor amd 6 indoor pickleball courts. Court, paddle, and ball rentals require a fee. Outside, they have corn hole games scattered throughout, two places to play bocce ball, a ping pong table, giant connect 4, and giant jenga, which can be played for free. They also have a shaved ice concession stand outside. Service: This was the main drawback for me. The people at the ordering counter were nice and polite, but we rarely had someone come check on us to ask if we needed anything. We needed napkins and an extra set of silverware, but someone only came to check on us after we had finished eating. I suppose we could've gone inside and asked, but we were seated out by the pickleball courts and I didn't want my food to get cold while I went on that hunt.

Great place, one thing did bither me however. Sanitizer was not being used properly behind the bar. Items need to be submerged in sanitizer for at least 60 seconds to be effective. The guy behind the bar was washing cups dipping them in sanitizer and taking them right back out. Management needs to address that. My quesadilla was delicious, the bartenders were so nice! I had one speciality cocktail so far and that was delicious, the cactus pear margarita. I'm definitely coming back many times before leaving Kansas. Update August 8th, changing my 5 star review to a 1 star based off service at the bar. One hour and I've been able to get one beer. Staff is looking over me to get other guest, while seeing my empty glass. I've been here on crazy busy nights and have gotten better service than this. Literally my worst experience here since being in Wichita. And for it to be my last night here very disappointing. Next time I'm in town I won't be coming back here. Management took to long to step in and even then she didn't seem to be much help. Put your best people in places they belong. One of the guys behind the bar definitely seemed like he didn't know his was around the bar. He poured my beer gave it to me then asked for my id as I was already taking my first sip.
