Update: Sasha, the event coordinator, called me & apologized for this occurrence. She promised to speak to those working that evening. She also wrote me a very nice letter. It was refreshing to have someone who cared enough to call me & try to remedy the situation.
Our company reserved out (3) of the pickleball courts last Friday from 6-8PM for about 30 of our employees (Reservations were requested & contract signed on Monday of that week). We were greeted by the host, a server, & a Pickleball trainer. They had a sign posted with our company name & a water station for our employees to share. Everything seemed fine - it was a perfect cool, crisp Fall evening & we were excited for the company event.
However, after our employees began filtering in at 6PM the first signs of issues began to crop up. First, neither the server or trainer were anywhere to be found. I had to go grab our server to begin taking food/drink orders. Unfortunately, he could only find two food menus that everyone had to share (not a big deal to share, but you would sure think they'd have a couple more menus prepared for such a large group). Finally the server begins taking our orders, but he doesn't have a pen/pad to write anything down. Once again he disappears for several minutes. This time he returns & only takes a couple orders before disappearing again! Meanwhile, we decide to go ahead & start playing Pickleball. But our trainer was absolutely nowhere to be found - in fact we never saw him for the entirety of the evening. Luckily several of our employees had previous experience playing Pickleball & taught everyone the rules best they could. We did begin to receive the 3 or 4 orders that were initially placed, but the waiters/waitresses who delivered the orders couldn't take any additional orders. We requested our server to come back and take down more orders, but once again he was nowhere to be found. At this point, many of our employees were frustrated enough that they just walked to the main building (which houses the restaurant) & put in their own orders for food & drinks. Meanwhile we've been playing Pickleball for about an hour & the water station has not been refilled even once (nor was it refilled the entirety of the evening). It felt like our entire company party of ~30 people basically got shoved in a corner & forgotten about. Neither our server, host, or trainer was seen for the entire last hour of our reservation (7-8PM). Not once were drinks refilled, additional orders taken, checkup on how things were going - nothing! At 8PM we were promptly notified our reservation was over & that we needed to leave for the next party that had rented the courts.
The entire evening was some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I've been to this Chicken & Pickle location many times over the years & have always enjoyed the experience & the atmosphere. Whether it was coming with my family for a meal or with friends to enjoy a game of Pickleball - it has always been a very pleasant experience. However, this time Chicken & Pickle really dropped the ball. I will be hard pressed to recommend C&P for any upcoming events at our...
Read moreWe went here with our soccer team while in town for a tournament so that the kids could play pickleball and hang out with each other afterward. We sat outside at the picnic tables in the corner behind the bocce ball. We had three servers that came through to help us. We were told we could order appetizers and drinks from them but if we wanted other food we had to go inside and order.
We proceeded to order an appetizer since we had a free one from signing up for the app. I let the server know and she took down the code. My appetizer came about 30 minutes later and I was told by the person that delivered it that half of my chips blew away while he was bringing it to me. Next time I saw our original server I told her what happened and she said she would get us more. She never came back.
I went inside to order meals and then went back to my table. When the food came out the fries were cold so we didn't end up eating them and the rest of the meal just wasn't great. By the time we saw a server again our drinks were empty and we were done eating what we could stomach of our meals. She realized she didn't bring us the chips and asked if I still wanted them even though she was "sure the dip was cold now." I told her not to worry about it but asked for a refill on my drink. She never came back with one. I proceeded to flag down two other servers and ask for a refill. Neither one ever came back.
I never received a check so I had to hunt someone down to close my tab. When I finally went to the bar to close it I was assured that the appetizer was taken off since I had the reward in the app and my card was swiped even though I never was given a bill to look at. I asked for my copy of the receipt because it seemed high. Upon looking at it I was charged for the appetizer, and the drinks of the people next to me. I had to go find a manager to fix it and was told that they couldn't find my tab even though I had handed them the receipt. I was offered a gift card for what I was over charged but told them I don't live in town and that we don't have a Chicken N Pickle back home. She said "well nevermind then" and managed to find my tab. Overall after the adjustment my bill went from $69 down to $37. That is a very large difference to have mistakenly...
Read moreI was asked to plan a team event for our soccer team that was in Wichita for a tournament. I called the prior week to be sure they could seat our 38 people. They quickly said yes like it was no big deal. I booked our 3 courts online with no problem. When we arrived I asked the hostess again to confirm that in 45 minutes when we were done playing pickle ball, they could seat 38 people. She said yes, no problem. We checked in to courts with no problem and right on time played our 30 minutes. Wait staff that served our spectator parents were great! After our court time expired we went to the restaurant side. The SAME hostess, who had just told me (and a couple other parents I was with) 45 minutes prior that we could be sat with no issues now seemed clueless as to how they were going to accommodate the 38 people now standing in the lobby waiting to be sat. When I addressed it with her, she stood there smiling and nodding and DIDN'T SAY 1 WORD!!! It was ridiculous I was saying "I just asked you and you told me you could seat 38 people". She continued to stand there, smile and nod WITHOUT SPEAKING. Literally would not reply to my questions about why she told me 45 minutes prior that our group size could be sat. This was 7/7/23 at 5:30p. MGR: Please reassign that hostess to a different job...you do not want her to be the "face" of your establishment. The manager apologized that when I called the prior week AND when I confirmed 30 prior, I was not told they would need to notify management and block reserved tables. So we had our party of 38 (parents and teens) all standing around with nowhere to sit. It took them 15 minutes to scramble together and clean recently vacated tables. Our team was not able to sit together and a few of our families left out of frustration. This was our team's last dinner together because most have already graduated HS. It was supposed to be fun. The girls did have a great time playing pickle ball! Check in was easy, quick and they run a tight ship with court timing so you don't have to worry about running behind. I highly recommend reserving pickle ball courts for groups! That was ran well and super fun for our families! But skip the restaurant and go somewhere that has more...
