UPDATE: staff nice with ok service, food ok, DIRTY EVERYWHERE, why not hire cleaners? I don’t understand why the owner allows this location to be so uncared for. I would be embarrassed. The the floors aren’t vacuumed, much less clean, partitions have hand prints, tables are dirty, air vents/fans/glass/fridges - all obviously dirty and obviously dirty for quite some time. And if the PUBLIC areas are this dirty I can’t imagine the kitchen. It’s sad as I really like the idea of a Neighborhood restaurant. I thought maybe they had an off week when I visited before, but no - this is simply how this place is run. You can see it as soon as you walk in the door - the foyer is filthy. Actually filthy. Too bad. This could be such a cute place if somebody loved it. We would come every week if it were cared for - we like the theme, the staff, and the convenience of real food at a real table served quickly. Really a shame but we won’t ever be back. August 2021: No. Wish I had read recent reviews. Place was dirty and flies constantly landed on food. Flies were easily visible on the dirty windows and seats. We had to put napkins over our food to keep it clean. The dining room was fairly empty, but none of the staff was masked. Our waitress stood as close to us as she possibly could and loudly talked over the table area. No personal space or health precautions. She leaned over the table to get closer while talking and once I turned my head to find her actually LEANING OVER ME in the booth to see what picture I was taking. I had to tell her she was too close. I hated doing that, but a foot from my face and over my food? That is ridiculous. And disrespectful of others. The breakfast food was good but if the hygiene in the dining room was this bad, we thought the kitchen was likely worse. And if our waitress was so blatantly disrespectful of health and safety standards it’s likely management was too. We did not finish our food. We definitely won’t be back and I won’t be ordering takeout either. One irritation - the Sunday newspaper from the machine outside was a week out of date. Nasty trick to...
Read moreSince I had heard so many good things about Jimmies Diner, I had to go there to see the hype for myself! So while visiting Kansas, I made the detour. Regrettably, I was very let down. We were welcomed by staff as soon as we entered and shown to our table. Good start. The waitress clearly displayed a "rushed" and partially "annoyed" demeanor. I ignored it, thinking that perhaps she was having a rough day. Nevertheless, after waiting 35 to 40 minutes for our food, we were given cold, rubbery eggs, soggy and poorly fried chicken, stale toast, microwaved soup, a missing coffee, and the flavored beverage I had ordered had leftover food residue on the outside of the cup. Also, I had ordered mashed potatoes that had a degreaser-like flavor. Typically, I never return food. But, the degreaser was a problem that I thought the kitchen could benefit from knowing about. The chemicals were burning my mouth, so clearly not good for you lol. I asked the waitress if I could have it sent back and if I could have some more mashed potatoes after any chemical problems were taken care of. She took the food, came back, and informed me that the degreaser wasn't a problem. Not very reassuring. I sadly know what degreaser tastes like because I've worked in the food industry, and someone in the back was lying. It was probably leftover degreaser soap from the dishes they would have used. The waitress than had us pay, and told us they would have the potatoes out shortly. I however decided it was not worth it and departed without my mashed potatoes after waiting for an additional 35 minutes with no one checking in on us. Overall I would say it wasn't a very pleasant expirence. The staff was mid, the food was bad quality, clearly dishes weren't being washed and rinsed properly, not a great introduction to the...
Read moreFood was amazing and the service was NOT. When being seated, we told he hostess 4 adults and a toddler. She sat us at a 4 person booth. I asked if we could get a larger table because a 4 person booth for 5 people was not going to work. The hostess asked the waitress and the waitress threw an attitude about how any other table was dirty. The dining room had maybe 3 other tables eating at this time. Not busy at all. After standing at our 4 person table for about a minute, the waitress snapped at us about a corner booth (that was clean and would fit all 5 of us). We sat down. Ordered. Before even getting out food she asked if we wanted to pay. Then, all of the adults got our food and my 3.5 year old had to wait. Why were 4 burgers and fries done before 3 pancakes...? Asked for sides of ranch, got more attitude about how it was more. We didn't mind. Waited for a while for a simple cup of ranch. When we asked for it again, you guessed it, MORE attitude. "I was getting to that. I slipped my mind." Were her exact words. Won't be back for the simple fact that we don't even live in Kansas, and if we did the good food wouldn't even be enough to bring us back. If you're waitresses can't stand the customer service industry send...
