Went there to for lunch celebrate my birthday with my dad today (didn't say anything so cannot tell you if they offer anything for birthdays, ask yourself sorry).
Tried The Edward and flight of soups, dad got The Club and Potato Salad, ordered to go a Blue Key North(?) with pasta salad and a GF PB Cookie to-go..
The Edward had a lot of tuna salad, no real breaks in texture, which can be good for some, you get your moneys worth of tuna for certain but needed some kind of chips or something, was only able to get through a quarter and should have taken home as I had the perfect chips to make the sandwich pairing to me, a 10 at least, but hindsight.. Dad offered a piece off of his Club and a little potato salad... Not having had potato salad before, I found it to be alright, between that and the pasta salad, I love the pasta salad. The Club easily saved the entire experience for me, the small bite was exceptional and wished I had gotten that, and will if I go back.. The soup flight was alright, with tomato in for the first, garbanzo bean, poormans stew, shrimp chowder and lastly the chicken tortilla.. The Blue Key North had a ton of turkey, small amount of jelly which isn't terrible, the roll is well toasted, the pasta salad surprisingly delicious and different than what I am used to, in a pleasant way to contribute. The GF Peanut Butter Cookie is good, really sweet (much too sweet to my likeness), wish there was more of a crunch or crispiness to it, it kind of falls apart like brown sugar. The staff at the counter taking the order were friendly and super helpful, didn't get talked to during our meal for feedback otherwise nothing bad happened, overall decent experience and as I said, the Club saved it for me..
Below are ratings of food out of 10 The Edward 7.4 The Club 9.4 Potato Salad 8.3 Pasta Salad 8.5 Tomato Bisque 8.2 Garbanzo Bean 7.8 Poorman's Stew 7.6 Shrimp Chowder 7 Chicken Tortilla 6.8 GF Peanut Butter Cookie 6 Blue Key North (?) 7
Overall experience 7.8/10, not a bad place for lunch and worth giving a chance to. My only absolute recommendations at this time are The Club with Pasta Salad.
Did not get picture of to-go order or dads food, what is in pictures is The Edward and the Soups...
Read moreCame to this place for the first time today. Haven’t been before so I was new to the process. I decided that i would find a table while my gf ordered (she was next in line). I apparently had the order taker hollering at me from across the room while taking someone else’s order. And then had another gentleman come to my table to let me know that we need to order before sitting down. That’s fine and I got up right away as I didn’t see the sign (simple mistake to make). What’s not cool however is the absolute rudeness of the staff to sarcastically tell me to “have a good day” in an overly obnoxious and loud way from across the entire restaurant because I decided not to eat there because there were no more tables left open. They didn’t have to say anything to us but they were trying to get a reaction out of me clearly.
I don’t know the staff and I’ve read other reviews on how rude the staff is and I’m fortunate enough to find out on my first visit to this establishment. I won’t be returning and I know that doesn’t matter to whoever is going to reply with a snarky remark to this review (as I’ve seen you do in other reviews). My advice? Just be more hospitable and understanding to patrons who maybe don’t see the sign as they walk in (I know it’s obvious now as it’s right by the menus) but try to be more understanding of that in the future that maybe customers aren’t looking at signs right away when they enter.
The fact that I know I’m about to get another sarcastic and rude reply to this review demonstrates my point that the staff at this restaurant isn’t polite and talks down to its customers. It’s a shame if the employees there had to act in such a manner. they could have dealt with it more professionally and privately instead of trying to make a big scene out of it in front of the...
Read moreIf I could give a zero star I would. I went to eat at I thought to be one of my favorite places for soup and sandwiches and the staff were rude. I was with my 5 year old grandson and pregnant daughter. The seating was first come, first serve. It was quite chilly out and my grandson was cold, even with a hoodie on. I asked them about the outdoor heaters and they stated that they were not on that day. There were no seats inside, so we were forced to take our food outside. I came in for napkins and saw a table empty and grabbed it. A very flamboyant boy who worked there stated that I couldn’t sit there. He told me it was first come, first serve. I told him that we had just ordered and saw that the table was empty. I didn’t move. I asked to speak to the manager and he stated that they were too busy to get the manager. When I got the chance to see a staff member who looked like the manager, she was not rude, but basically took the flamboyant boy’s side of the story. I have no problem with gay people and have many friends, but when you have to force it, you have some issues. I told the manager that I would not be back. They need to use some common sense and hire a hostess or turn on the outdoor heaters for their...
