As a frequent regular at Reverie’s old location, I was quite apprehensive but cautiously optimistic that I would be able to have a similarly pleasant experience at the new location. Since the opening, I’ve made about 3 or 4 ish visits. I would say from my experience that the coffee is still great. I also tried some of their new dessert items and loved everything I had. I will say that the set up inside to order is not only confusing but also intimidating, especially during my first visit to the new location. The space is very open so there isn’t really anything around the ordering area that explicitly expresses that this is the ordering area unless you know to look for the IPad used for checkout. From what I remember, the customer service I received was fairly average, except for one occasion where the lady who took my order paid me a nice compliment and it made my day. I love that Reverie uses square for their point of sale system. I enjoy getting my receipt emailed to me and it’s so convenient to leave immediate feedback. I recently read that the owner is re-tooling their food menu and is discontinuing the waitressing of tables, which I believe is a really smart move. I feel like you are either a coffee shop or you are a restaurant. It’s very difficult to pull off both, and I’ve never personally been to an establishment that attempts to do both at once. When I’m going to a coffee shop, most likely to get some studying done, my prerogative is to order myself coffee and maybe a snack, for sure not a full meal, and then once I’ve gotten my items and found a table, I’m finished interacting with anyone and do not want to be bothered. I will say the new space is asthetically appealing in a visual manner and you can tell that a significant sum of money was paid for that finished product. However, I must say, it does not compare to the warm cozy feel of the old location. I’m all for the growth and expansion of success businesses like Reverie, I’d just encourage them to remember what first drew customers to Reverie in the first place, great coffee and a pleasant well lit area for...
Read moreI have visited tried this establishment 3 times. I have been disappointed the past 2. The first time I ordered a coffee and a meal and was pleased. The second time I was with a party of 3 on a weekend. We all ordered coffee and a meal. Only one coffee was brought out and after 20 min we were able to flag down a waitress to ask about the other coffees. She brought them to us cold. Our food was brought out and was incorrect. The waitress brought the rest of our order after we were done with our meal. The third time and final time was during a weekday. One waitress brought me water as soon as I sat and took my coffee order. A different waitress brought my coffee and took my meal order. After close to 30 min I was able to flag a waitress down and asked where my food was. She checked and said it was still cooking. When she brought it out it was cold..... no waitress ever came back to the table to ask if my food was okay or if I needed another coffee. I walked up to the counter and asked the staff if I could pay my bill and was displeased. They all walked off. I stood there for a minute shocked and then I believe the manager came and discounted my bill. The waitress then walked up to me and said she would have the kitchen remake my meal. At this point it was to little to late. I think the issue is that you do not have waitress/waiters at assigned tables so that no one is ever following up with the customer to make sure they are able to order in a reasonable time or that the orders are correct or being delivered in a timely manner. This place has lots of potential however service and getting food out of the kitchen correctly and in timely manner is key to a...
Read moreI've been going to Reverie for many years but I'll admit I often skip them for a more coinvent chain option. I need to stop sleeping on them so much. I really think they have the best espresso in town and their pastries are stellar. I got a Pumpkin Spice Latte, breakfast burrito, and raspberry lemon morning bun today.
Frist off, everything is always good there. Secondly, the espresso; it's that nice, smooth, fully bodied flavor with so little bitterness that you barely need it sweetened. That's another thing, they do not overly sweeten their coffee, because they don't need to. There is none of that bitter taste to try to cover up. Thirdly, their pastries. Admittedly, I have not tried all their various items because when I go, I've got my eyes on one thing, a cruffin/morning bun/something with lamination. These are legit! I was trying to research who bakes for them (which actually led me to post this review) because I needed to know their background because they are that good. Anyone who watches Great British Bakeoff knows that laminated dough is hard to do well, and they do it great.
If you haven't already or are new to the area, check them out. You won't be disappointed. Word of warning though, they are almost always busy so finding a seat is hard and sometimes...
