I’ve been a few times in the past few years. This was the first time since they reopened. Week 6 soft opening to be exact (per their board haha). It was a Friday night and they were busy! Packed. We were told it’d be maybe 30-40 minutes. But several people had left their name/number and never answered so I think we only waited maybe 20 minutes. Started with their jalapeño caps. Always so good. Nice and spicy. Their tap list is HUGE now. I had the Bomb. It’s a dark amazing sout. I could drink it all the time. Nice and sweet. My husband tried one he didn’t care for and then another, I don’t remember the name but I believe it was a stout by Boulevard. And it was delicious as well. I could easily hang out at their bar to have a few beers and an app. Their menu is a lot bigger than I remember. So many options. I ordered the Mac & cheese with buffalo chicken and blue cheese. Wow! Their pasta is made fresh. It was just perfect. And such a large serving. I was able to have leftovers! My husband got their burger that’s basically a brat/sausage patty with cream cheese and roasted jalapeños. I of course had a few bites….its like a jalapeño popper burger. It was fantastic. Service was great and even though they were busy our server was attentive and fast. I can’t wait to go back! Definitely going to be on my rotation.

Definitely the worst service I’ve ever experienced at restaurant downtown. The two hosts were rude and dismissive, then the guy who sat us wouldn’t let us sit at an open booth, even though it wasn’t busy at all. Instead he sat us next to a large party where it was understandably noisy. After sitting there for about 15 minutes, and not getting waited on, we asked to be waited on. The girl who came and took our order was incredibly rude. First, my husband asked for a recommendation on the salad dressing and her response was that she doesn’t eat that stuff. Then, I asked for my starter salad to be delivered before my meal so my food wouldn’t get cold. Her response was, only if they give it to me this time… what in the actual heck?! We sat there for about 10 minutes, long enough to realize she was serious. Then, we made an excuse and bounced without eating. We ended up going to PourHouse, which offered amazing service and delicious food. I do NOT recommend The Anchor. It was an awful experience. My husband and I have never walked out of a restaurant like that, but they were so horrible in how they treated us. The thing is, downtown Wichita is a competitive market and there are tons of great places to eat where you will be treated with dignity and respect. This place is sadly not one of them.

You haven't seen The Anchor yet. Newly reopened and very well done. Plenty of beer and spirits to select from, I had the Wizard of Hopps, and a great gastropub menu to select from. The Anchor has been closed for renovations for about a year, and my friends and I have been frequenting their baby sister across town, Rail Hoppers. Now that I've seen the original, there's no going back. The Anchor is a great spot, excellent ambiance, cool music playing in the background, and lots to keep your eyes busy while enjoying fresh food and tasty beer on tap. The only thing that could make this experience better would be to bring back the Onion Soup Onion Rings. Honestly, it was a slip up discontinuity them. Do the right thing and bring them back, quick. It starts with crispy onion rings, then toss them with slaty marinated onions from a French onion soup (use the broth from the soup for the French Dip sandwiches that are already on the menu), then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, pop under the broiler for 30 seconds, lightly salt, and serve hot. These O-rings will be worth driving across town for, believe me. Don't delay, bring them back today!! See you there 👍

I wish I hadn’t ever gone! I remember how good the Anchor USED to be. I wish I still had that memory. Instead I am left with the most disappointing dining experience. We arrived at 4:50pm on a Saturday. There was a 15 minute wait. No big deal. We get seated in an almost empty restaurant. Maybe four tables were occupied. The waitress stopped by soon after seating to say she will be right with us. That was a lie. We waited at least 15 minutes before she came back to get any sort of order, let alone our drinks. We ordered beers and food at the same time because at that point we had time to study the menu, and provide a full dissertation on the menu. Queue the long thirsty wait for two beers. Thirty minutes later we got our beers, except the waitress and bar staff didn’t bother to open the bottle one of the beers came in. I would have asked for an opener if the waitress ever came back. Luckily we did get silverware, so the beer got opened. Without any sort of update, check in, or drink refill for an hour and fifteen minutes, we had to stop the waitress after all surrounding patrons had complained about the lack of food and service. We asked to pay for just our beers, which was more than what was deserved, and the pressure of us walking was enough for our food to finally appear. $72 for two sandwiches, two beers, a kids meal, and service led by Casper the ghost. We had the meals packaged to go; who has the patience to be at this place any longer. Our meals were mediocre at best. Sweet potato fries weren’t any better than I could have gotten at Bionic Burger. Sandwiches and a Kid’s chicken tender drier than my mouth before the beer arrived. 0/10 would recommend to a friend. 6/10 would recommend to a serious enemy, but I still would feel bad knowing the experience they were about to have.

P.s. I forgot to mention, “there is no manager on site,” or at least the manager is too cowardly to apologize for the complete and utter lack of respect the owners have for any sorry patron that walks through their doors.

Do yourself a favor and grab a hotdog that’s been on the roller grill at QuikTrip for one hour longer than it was stamped for. Your money would be...

Saturday evening, me and 7 of my friends decided to eat here. We spent an hour and a half here, but not because we enjoyed the dining experience. I gave a 2 star to be fair because they were busy and we were a larger group. First off,one of the group, a male, went to the bathroom and he said it was nasty. (And, later, another male went) We were sat and the server came by, eventually, to take our orders. We each gave very precise orders with drinks included and nothing picky. Our drinks, mostly beers, came out after appetizers in bottles and cans. One of our group ordered French onion dip. It was not explained, until later, that you have to order something else to dip in it. The appetizers were good. I ordered onion rings and someone else ordered jalapeño bottle caps. Our main food came out and it was not hot. The fries were limp and just barely warm. Our server was no where to be found. My sandwich (a brat burger) was supposed to come with a choice of sauerkraut or apple slaw on it. I chose the kraut and didn't get it. One person got mac and cheese that was thick and pasty. I'm pretty sure every person at the table was disappointed in their dish. Fast forward...the server finally comes to check on us, asking me if I wanted a box for my burger and I declined. Asked if something was wrong. I gave my honest assessment. Another member of the group gave theirs, as well. Server talked to the manager and they gave us 10% of entire ticket and dropped the French onion dip. We weren't satisfied but didn't want to make anymore fuss. Two of us ladies needed to use the bathroom before we left. They were dirty and neither toilet flushed. I informed someone behind the bar. She said, "I guess I have to go be a plumber, again. I don't get paid...

I haven't been to this place in awhile and now I know why. There's always issues every time I go to this place whether it's with work or personally. Last time I went here, my coworker got a burger practically raw, she didn't reorder because it would have taken a long time. She watched us eat instead. Then I had server argue with me about getting my drink wrong. I decided to give it another chance. We decided to go there for lunch. We got seated right away. The waitress was very thorough on our drink order but we never got it. She was waiting on a table of 6. She got slammed trying to take care of them that she fell short with us. Took our drink order, waited a long time to find out they didn't have the brand we wanted. We then compromised and chose bar brand instead. It seemed this waitress was not getting any team support at all. She had one person helping her run food to the the table of 6, then she had to get shots for them. I couldn't understand why she couldn't pick up our drinks then. There were 2 bartenders standing around when they could have helped. Had a tattooed guy clearing a table behind, he saw us sitting with our menus, no drinks, he never once asked us how we're doing, can I take your order, nothing. We never got our drinks, we waited at least 30 minutes, no one approach us. They say support your local businesses, not when I get ignored and treated like I'm...
