I was hired on to help Ben's son as a cook. I had to quit because they told me to sample there food and I got sick. The oil they cool there tacos in is brown. The fryer is covered in brown gunk. They pre make the tacos at home and freeze them and thread the tacos with toothpicks to keep them together. After frying the tacos they reuse the tooth picks. They put all the food on the same table from beef to pork and don't wipe down anything. They don't want to pay me for my day shift because I have to bring in my own copy of my i.d like they can't do it themselves. I seen families ordering at this place and felt bad for them. The owner runs his mouth about the people and talks down about them. I am not going to be picking up my check they got a free day worth of work out of me but that's ok. All of there food is microwaved so if you want to buy brown oiled fried tacos or day old food reheated then this is your spot. They can't find any help because of the way they run this establishment. Be warned I worked here and I'm just letting the...
Read moreI can’t belive this place has good reviews.. went there with the family to try something new, ordered a bud light, as they had a bar and a bud light sign, she says no beer our license expired.. should’ve left but I said ok water is better for me.. ordered Queso and it tasted like there was hand soap in it. The chips were good but even the slasa is like watered down diced tomatoes. ok screw it the lady is nice I’m not complaining. I order food and my enchiladas were on a super hot plate but cold inside, beans were Luke warm at best.. so I try my wife’s taco and it tastes like the lettuce has insecticides all over it.. this place was TERRIBLE. I’m sorry but it was. I paid my bill and left. I feel bad not leaving a tip because the lady was nice which is why I said nothing about the TERRIBLE FOOD, but I didn’t even want to pay for my food. I barely ate but I was starving so I choked down some beans and even some of the enchiladas. I hope I don’t get...
Read moreDont overlook this place! Revisiting a childhood memory. Our dad used to take us to El Mexico about 40+ years ago. We'd eat a basket of chips then couldn't finish the Deluxe Burrito. Dad was not pleased. Placed changed hands and returning 35 years later I couldn't get that burrito. Couple months ago, ran into a guy selling Tex-Mex at the Wichita flea market. He is one of the sons still running a Mexican restaurant using his father's recipes. Today, I had the burrito. Tender chili verde pork, soft pinto beans, wrapped in a large flour tortilla and smothered in chili gravy and cheese. Awesome. Ladies had the deluxe Monterey: a crispy corn tortillas topped with refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, jalapenos, and an excellent tender pork. Chips and salsa a plenty. The hot is spicy, smokey - just delicious. It's a family run business, committed to Wichita for over...
