To preface I typically only grab takeout here at Ziggy’s, a spot I usually enjoy for their delicious pies. I’ve been at The Depot downtown multiple times and ordered Ziggy’s, I even picked a later time to dine in which resulted in 4 hungry kids in tow. I thought I'd outsmart the dinner crowd. Even talked up the great hospitality offered in Wichita to my out-of-town family member that is here visiting…
Funny because my son asked what superpower I would like to have if I could a few days back. I responded INVISIBILITY with conviction. But be careful what you wish for… I didn’t think it would come true.
But after sitting at the table for a solid 20 minutes without so much as a smile a server from the staff, I started to wonder if I’d mastered invisibility without even trying.
Watched two tables of large parties get handled that walked in well after we did. 5 working waitresses behind the bar making eye contact but no action talking to young fellas at the bar. I had to wave down a waitress and ask if she was our waitress. She wasn’t. She did offer to “go find her,” but stammered for a bit and then said she could take the order.
To her credit, she stepped up and took our order, even though it was clear she was worried I was about to unleash the fury of the hangry. But by that point, the thrill was gone, much like my initial excitement about dinner. Even if the pizza had come out topped with gold flakes, it couldn’t have salvaged the service.
Didn’t see another waitress until the pizza hit, randomly ended up with an extra pizza that wasn’t ordered and had to get up twice to walk to the bar to ask for napkins and some dressing for the salad we ordered. Only saw a glimpse of the original waitress again when the check was dropped in a very quick fashion to limit any possible interaction along with a single Styrofoam container to pile left over pizza in… never seen a pizza joint not give you a box. Random.
I get the service industry and I’m not ever an angry customer in the least. This could have been salvaged by a single positive or encouraging interaction from the staff acknowledging the situation. Instead, the sentiment was I was the bad guy for asking for to be a customer.
With pizza options endless in the Doo-Dah it will be the last time here unfortunately. Disappointing to brush off all the other great options thrown out with an out of towner visiting from the wife and kids and it be my overruling that we should hit Ziggy’s. In looking at some of the other reviews it seems this isn’t an isolated incident with whom I assume had our table assigned to serve. Management should...
Read moreWell,we have been comimg to Ziggy Eastside for awhile bcuz we live close. The food is good every time. The services are ok bcuz they are always busy, but they still check on us few times when we are there. But today was horrible service (I don't know her name but the waitress with a lot of tattoo, one of them around her neck). She came over to ask abt drink after we had seats, we ordered drinks, she brought out drinks and asked abt food but we said to give us few minutes, so she left. After we figured out what we wanted ( abt 3mins) ,we have waited for almost 15mins, but still didn't see her come back to check on us. So we have asked another waitress for help, but still nothing bcuz of course that wasn't their table Another 5mins went by, we had to raise out hand for our waitress when we saw her, so she came by and asked " are you ready to order?". My husband said with a littleof serious voice " yes, we are ready for a while". Then her face started acting up. After order placed , she left and came back with plates, and OMG, she came but not like to stop to place the plates, she just like walked pass our table and almost threw the plates on our table, so RUDE. we were like WOAAA. And after that, we think she said sth to another waitress, so another came to check on us, not her anymore. Well ,that's great bcuz if she kept servicing us that way, we would say sth out loud for sure. We still left the tips but will never come back to that place again, but still like Ziggy. We will go to different...
Read moreWow! it has been a VERY long time since I've had a large group dining experience like the one we were blessed with last night at Ziggy's - east Wichita. From our first call to the assistant manager, asking if they could accommodate a giant group at 10:15pm (45 minutes before they close) to the night of our gathering where the assistant manager (who was off duty) actually returned to make sure everything was going smoothly. Your team found a way to accommodate 30 of us on the patio on a mid-70s degree night where the space was very busy. They had everyone served (we pre-ordered) within 10 minutes of our arrival. The food was hot and exceptional. And we were just blown away by the overall service experience. Ziggy's - congratulations on hiring a top-notch management team in your GM and assistant GM and the kind of service professionals that will keep your guests coming back. You have obviously created a fun, supportive work environment that feels very much like family, and we felt...
