Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Wichita

I'm not sure I've ever been more dissatisfied in a food service establishment. First, I will note that yes, I am fully aware and understanding of the fact that due to the pandemic and other factors that restaurants are short-staffed, sometimes to the extreme and are pulling a tremendous amount of weight just to stay open. I respect the heck out of that.

That being said, my wife and daughter had to wait an astounding 45 (FORTY-FIVE) minutes just to get the order taken. The drive thru was out of order, so my wife parked a stall and pushed the button to order. Ten minutes go by with no response from inside. Thinking the stall was also inoperable, she moved to another stall. Another five minutes go by, with nothing. So she moves to a third stall. Again, minutes go by and meanwhile, other vehicles parked nearby that arrived well after she did not only got their orders taken but got their stuff and drove away. She finally went to the door and waited for someone to come out. The employee was professional and apologetic and the order was taken.

But, of course, the order was wrong when it was brought out. By this time my wife was so angry that she just cut her losses and came home. After spending ONE HOUR at a fast food establishment, only to pay and get the wrong order.

I honestly expect there to be some issues from time to time when there's only four people working on ridiculously low wages when there is supposed to be eight, but that was beyond anything anyone should ever have to deal with. Just for a shake and...

Since I was a girl, the only thing that I ever ordered from Sonic was a corn dog and a medium chili cheese tater tot with jalapenos. Of course I'd get a drink. I am 26 years old now and I remain true. Anyways, I work at a school near this particular Sonic and the other day I came in ordered my usual. The corn dog was greasy and overcooked and the tater tots were hard and cold along with the chili and cheese on top. I was so disappointed, but unfortunately I could not go back because I had to be at my job. Today I went back to that same Sonic hoping that it would redeem itself of my last experience. I ordered my usual except I did not get a corn dog this time. I mentioned how dissatisfied I was with my last experience and although I had to wait slightly longer, my tater tots were on point! The chili was hot and there was just enough jalapenos. It kind of ticks me off that they charge an extra $0.60 for jalapenos and only give you three or four but this time I had enough to have a jalapeno with each bite. On January 10th we had been to a concert at Hartman Arena, dropped off a friend and was headed back to Hutchinson. We were craving a something to drink some tater tots and a pretzel but it was late. Just a few minutes before midnight. Wasnt really paying attention to the time but we pulled in since we saw the lights and other cars. We gave our order at one of the spots. The guy sounded a little short but got our order. As soon as he got our order the lights of the facility went out. Looked at the time and it was midnight. Oh man I felt so bad that we had just pulled in and ordered right before closing time and ordered a bunch of snack foods. But, the order came out in good time and the young man smiled and excepted our apologies for ordering so late. The food was good and hot didnt taste like it was old at all.
