I have to say it's a very big store and it was my first time in one. For it being in the city I was a little disappointed. I don't think we got one welcome greeting as I and the family walked in. We're from out of town and we wanted to go by and take a quick look. I can say this it's about service to the customer. And from the time they enter you must have someone greeting no matter what. People are not robots they like to be acknowledged. AS&O failed to get any points and they still earned my business because my son needed a pair of flippers. But imagine walking into a store not knowing where you are and getting no welcome and no introduction. Can you see why more and more people are shopping online. It's the experience of going to the store that makes it special getting the chance to talk to people and interact and get guidance for what your looking for and them making an effort to at least acknowledge you. People want to spend money but they'll only do it if they feel welcome. The store is huge, it has a great selection, and I could have walked to each corner of the store and found something of interest. So you be the judge and try it out. They just might meet your expectations but I'm sure you'll see something you like because they have a great selection for just...
Read moreYoung salesman was super helpful as much as he could be. We wanted a bike for our granddaughter all ready assembled. When we looked closely at that bike which was posted at full price $139.99, we noticed the dirty tires and dirt on frame. We asked if they would discount it as it was obviously used. The salesman came back with a 10% discount. Looking at it closer we asked him to ask the manager for a 20% and we may consider. The manager came and took the bike down where we noticed several scrapes, a dent in fender and hand grips/foot pedals discolored from grime. He tried to sell us a new one assembled the next day as soon as he could find one in back, man did we wait. We said we'd be willing to buy the one they should never have on the floor for full price and the saleperson left to talk with manager. After 20 mins waiting with no return, we went to Walmart and bought a nice brand new bike for $90, with a basket our total will be $110 and it's brand new. Not used and wrecked. If they worked with us we would have walked out with a bike and new $50 shoes but more than likely I will cancel my credit card and not return to any academy sports store. Very disappointed in an hour +...
Read moreWill never shop at this location again. I went in on Christmas Eve to grab some peanut oil and Cajun injection to fry my turkey. I had started cooking for Christmas that morning so of course I had on sweats and an oversized sweat jacket. Once I grabbed my items I heard one of the employee’s say over the radio watch the one in the red and black jacket. I don’t steal and never have. I was very offended by the profiling that took place in this store. I was there to spend my hard earned money just like everyone else. If it had not been Christmas Eve and the fact that stores were closing early I would have left what I came to purchase! I have purchased patio furniture and barbecue grilles amongst other items from this store but as of now I’m boycotting this store. Never judge a book by its cover and actually I’m employed by Wichita Public Schools as a security officer. Management I hope you guys take the necessary steps to correct this problem so no one else will...
