I love Ziggys pizza. We live in college hill and frequent once a month or so. Pizza is always fantastic however, the last two times I have been here the service has not been great.
The first time my pizza didn’t come out at all, it was due to “new cooks in training” which is fine, I get it, mistakes happen and they gave me a coupon and took my pizza off (which was very appreciative, unexpected, and wonderful service recovery).
Tonight’s experience was sub par. A topping was forgot about on my pizza, we had to ask for napkins, and we had better service from the girl giving us our pizza rather than our server. Our server didn’t even say anything after she dropped our check off.
I grew up in a pizza resteraunt that my grandfather owned and worked in the service industry throughout college so I have experience and know what it takes to provide good customer service, and the past two times it has been less than ideal. Please encourage your staff to write down their orders. Memory doesn’t cut it. Some may say it’s a waste of paper, but I can’t help but wonder if my past two experiences were due to the cooks error or the staff not writing down their orders.
I hardly ever write business reviews or tip less than 20% but unfortunately the experience I had tonight was...
Read moreThis College Hill location for Ziggy's will always be my favorite. Once you get done with the parking (which might be bad if it's a busy time of day since it's a small, tight area with a lot of places), the patio is awesome for a nice dinner or drink outside, and the inside (while not the best for a large group) just has that unqiue local college hill feel to it.
When it comes to the food, Ziggy's has a solid menu that includes some great specialty pizzas. I like the Big Time Pepperoni (a great go to) Kickin' Chicken (tasty with a little heat), and White Delight (that cream cheese sauce tho). They also have a lot of other menu options besides pizza.
While I haven't tried every item on the menu, I've liked all that I've tried, whether it's the cheesy garlic bread, bone-in buffalo wings, or Joe's Float (root beer float). In addition to their food menu, they also have a solid drink menu, including a lot of local beer options.
I definitely recommend checking out any of the Ziggy's locations, but this one is a good one for those visiting Wichita (or even for a local that hasn't been) to get one of the more unique local experiences. And while you're in the area, there's a lot of other awesome...
Read moreDespite my underwhelming experience the first time, I decided to give Ziggy's a second chance. The pizza was much better, with a crisp, golden brown crust, and flavorful sauce and toppings. I still thought the cheese was a bit tough, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. Service was quick and friendly, even though the place was packed on a Friday night. Overall, it was good food for the money, and I'll definitely be back. For posterity, here's my original, two-star review:
"I really wanted to like this place. It has a very charming, inviting atmosphere when you walk in, very cozy. We ordered one of the signature pizzas from the menu, a standard mixture of sausage and vegetables. It was served in a rectangular 9 x 13 pan — unusual, but not alarming. Then I had a slice. Not good. The sauce was thin and one-dimensional, and the toppings were hopelessly lost in a bland, rubbery layer of cheese that slid right off the pizza. Worst of all, the crust was thick, pale, and flavorless. I couldn't finish the crust on my pieces, and I always eat the crust. Did they use the wrong dough, or set the oven way too low? I'm not sure. I just know it was...
