We stopped in Wilkes-Barre en route from NH to VA. My wife Amy was reading Yelp reviews of pizza places near our hotel. Ceccoli’s caught her eye because of the glowing five-star reviews. Here’s one more:
Ceccoli’s serves pizza by the cut, which turns out to be a rectangular piece of pizza about 5-6” long by about 1.5-2” wide. There’s “red,” which has a really tasty sauce with onion cooked into it (you can get it without onion, too) and cheese. When we stopped, it was $1.35/cut. You can add a topping to each cut for .25 per. We ordered 10 cuts of red with pepperoni and 5 cuts plain. They have specialty pizzas—white, broccoli, and potato—but they were out when I ordered (about 8:30 on a Friday; they close at 9:30).
The pizza has just the right amount of sauce and cheese. It is light and fluffy on top with a delicious, crispy crust. Our son said that it reminded him of fried dough—that’s a pretty accurate comparison.
We also ordered a dozen wings, mild. They were cooked correctly (crispy), big, and crazy inexpensive. A price of $7.50 for a dozen wings of this quality is hard to find in our part of VA. They’re usually over $1 each and not cooked well (I’m a Buffalo NY native so maybe a little picky about wings.)
Ceccoli’s is located in an old neighborhood and has parking available. It’s small with a handful of 2-person tables and booths. I ordered on the spot and waited just 25 minutes. Call ahead and you’ll save some time. Our hotel was near the medical center and it was only about 5 minutes away.

Read moreI tried Ceccoli’s for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and I was not disappointed!! I ordered a couple of different food items as it was my first time ordering from this restaurant. The pizza was some of the best pan–fried that I’ve had in the area. I also ordered both mild and hot wings. The wings were a good size, and both wing sauces were full of flavor. I don’t usually get mild wing sauce as a lot of restaurants don’t make them flavorful enough for me. However, after reading several reviews claiming that the mild wings were amazing, I just had to try them, and they didn’t lie!! The onion rings that I ordered were large and crispy. I also ordered fries with cheese on the side. They were the kind of fries with the really good “nacho cheese“ like the ones you would get at a food stand at a football game. All of the portions were large as well!! Both the onion rings and the fries came in large containers that were completely filled. While waiting for my order, I spoke to the woman behind the counter (from other reviews, I believe her name is Ann), and she couldn’t have been nicer!! She even gave me a free piece of white pizza to try, and the white pizza was really good as well. I will definitely be a returning customer as everything was excellent, and I am eager to try more of...
Read moreMy wife and I used to drive down from just north of Binghamton, NY to go to the Victory Pig for pizza. We were originally from the Wyoming Valley and were familiar with it, having patronized it for years. Lately, both their pizza and service had gone way down. Saw in a review where someone switched to Ceccoli's Pizza, and it was like the Pig used to be. Decided to take the hour and a half drive and check out Ceccoli's. It was delicious, with the chunky tomato sauce with lots of onions, good cheese, and a nice crisp crust. Their pork bbq is also great. Ann, the charming lady at the counter, was very accommodating and friendly, with a nice smile. Ceccoli's has great Old Forge style pizza, in my opinion, it's better than the places in Old Forge, as well as a very nice varied menu and all at a very reasonable price. Just keep in mind that it's takeout only, but worth the little bit of...
