Ocean State Job Lot — Local services in Wilkes-Barre

Tons of items at great prices. Just imagine an upscale Ollie's with same or better prices. Fantastic food sections and outdoor stuff. I had a nice list and got every single item on it and was under budget. Ya gotta love this place 🙂 Great enthusiastic staff shouting out food bank donations over the loudspeaker - can I get a hurrah. Expanded clothing and bedding departments from my last visit. Once again got to put a line through everything on my list, was under budget and donated $3 to local food bank. They have this entire isle dedicated to coffee and teas. I picked up a 1.5 lb bag of coffee for $6 bucks last week, and went back for 2 more today plus brought a friend who loved the place. We both live in apts, but if you have a home or terrace their lawn and garden section is at least 15 isles. Wow 😲 By far the biggest selection of A/C units on site. Also great Patio buys and planters too at reasonable prices. I get around to these Big Box stores and this place is the best stocked of them all. Lots of unique products from around the world too. Thankfully the store and the staff continue to impress me and those who shop with me. Woo Hoo to donations...

Horrible manager confused my mother into paying full price for items that should have been discounted. There was a Sunday sale that gave you a gift card for the discounted items you bought. To my mother the receipt looked like she was paying for the gift card on top of the items. She didn’t want to so return the gift card but didn’t get back anything because it was technically store credit gift card. I am extremely disappointed that they did not explain it to her. The manager made her pay full price for the items and then took back the gift card. ( All she had was the receipt on her ) When I went to talk to them and explain they said there was nothing they could do even though they could have explained it properly to my mother. I wish the employees cared about their customers more instead of swindling them when they’re confused. Very...

Retail right at the tail end of the holiday season, and the cashiers and staff working here 5-6 pm on December 27, 2022 were... Amazing. Friendly. Lighthearted. Helpful. And we saw them supporting each other when there was some external stress.

The store is great, with excellent prices on new odds and ends, lawn/recreation goods, even non-perishable groceries. But lots of discount stores have that, and they can sometimes seem interchangeable.

The people here, though, were reason to feel some draw towards being loyal to this particular place, and that's a rare feeling these days. You could tell they care about each other, the store, and the customers.
