I had the chicken fried steak. And, I think you can tell a restaurant by their chicken fried steak. Normally, I would ask for the gravy on the side, but it has been a long day of traveling and I forgot. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't a sausage gravy and it needed more pepper. That said, I understand restaurants cannot cater to the high pepper gravy lovers because I don't think there are enough of us to go around. The steak was very good. Flavorful and had a great crunch, even with all that gravy. My wife had the Reuben. She likes it. The corned beef was nicely done and the bread was crunchy without the grease you can get. The chili was thick and tasty. Do not miss the pies. Delicious. Lisa was out waitress and she is wonderful. They should give her a raise. Very attentive and, unlike some places, she served her own food. She didn't send in the second string. Meal was up in minutes, so if you're traveling, this is a great place to stop and get a nice meal instead of fast food. If you're stopping for the night, I hear their Bloody Mary's are fantastic. I was driving, so I did not partake. Don't look like that - honest no drinking and driving. Sorry - I was tired and forgot to...
Read moreDuring our visit to Williamsburg, we stumbled upon Landmark Grill & Grind, and it turned out to be one of the most delightful surprises of our trip. From the moment we stepped in, the diner felt like home warm, welcoming, and sparkling clean.
The staff greeted us like family and delivered swift yet attentive service. I couldn’t resist one of their highly rated burgers (seriously, one of the Top Ten in Iowa!) paired with generous fries. Every bite was juicy and full of character.
My partner opted for the Chicken Caesar wrap (a fan favorite), and it did not disappoint—packed with tender chicken, crisp lettuce, and savory Caesar flavor. The portion sizes were hearty without being overwhelming.
Their dessert offerings stole the show: flaky apple fritters and chocolate long johns treats you’d expect from a hometown bakery. The coffee gourmet and strongperfectly rounded out the meal.
Whether you’re out for a quick bite off I-80 or settling in with friends or family, this place shines with comfort food done right. See why it’s often rated #1...
Read moreMy wife, my mother-in-law and I went to Landmark for lunch. My mother-in-law ordered raspberry iced tea and was initially brought Sierra Mist. We ordered a plate of cheese fries for the table, then my wife ordered the hot turkey sandwich, my MIL ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with barbecue sauce and soup as her side, and I ordered the Reuben. My wife was brought a hot roast beef sandwich instead of the turkey she'd ordered. It took so long to get that she decided to just eat it instead of sending it back and waiting for what she'd ordered. My MIL's sandwich didn't come with the barbecue sauce she requested. We had to remind our server that we'd ordered cheese fries so they didn't come out until we were almost done with our lunches. Aside from the cheese fries, the quality of the food was good. Flavorful, moist and good portion sizes. The fries though were dry with not a lot of cheese on them and some rubbery bacon tossed on top. If we had a different server, it likely would have bumped my rating up...
