I went to Newberry subs for the first time tonight to pick up my husband's cheese steak this will be my last time as well. I had a phone call as I was walking up to the door and answered it. The place was empty when I walked in and the lady behind the counter asked if I'd called in an order. I asked my friend on the phone to please hold for a minute. I responded yes that it was either under James or Jennifer. She says nothing else so I assume she is getting it. I returned to my phone call and was waiting about 5 minutes when the lady working says that she will rung me up whenever I'm finished with my phone call. I said Oh I'm ready whenever you are. I waited as she helped the person who'd just walked in. Then 2 more people walk in and she proceeds to help them. I asked my friend on the phone to hold again and I ask her if my sandwich is not ready or something... She then says with an attitude that she will not ring me up until I've hung up the phone. I asked why do I need to hang the phone up for you to ring me up when I can just put them on hold. She says because I'm not ringing you up until you are off the phone. I replayed that I am not hanging the phone up but I will put them on hold. She finally rings it up takes the money and says not one word the entire time. I was there waiting 15 minutes for a sandwich that was ready and no one in front of me! Never once did she walk over to me or in any way act like she was waiting on me or I would have put the phone on hold. If my husband was not so hungry I would have walked out without a sandwich and drive right up the road and ordered one. I get home and as he's eating his sandwich he tells me he wishes I would have walked out. There were little pieces of paper stuck all in the meat and he had to pick it out before trying to eat it. I feel that this was done on purpose! When you have 3 kids, work all day, all 3 kids have different practices and you are still trying to maintain a household, you are sometimes luck to get a few minutes on the phone most days! I have never went in anywhere and been on the phone and ignored or been rude to the person ringing me up. I would never expect someone to be rude to me either! I will never be back there again and neither will the 10 people I would have recommended it to or the 10 people each one of them could have recommended. The best advertisement is from happy customers! If they treat everyone that way I can not see how they are even in business . Read moreI been a long time customer to this speciffic establishment. Been getting subs here sense I was a kid. However I've noticed the last 3-4yrs their customer service has taken a serious nose dive. I noticed they had switched staff as well.
Seems like sense switching staff things changed a lot! For example... -can never get through to place an order because you constantly get "This number is currently unavailable at this time!" Which then cuts you off with no voice mail or anything. Meaning they probably took the phone off the hook (which I have witnessed couple times.) -when YOU CAN GET THROUGH sometimes you are a greeted with someone who treats you like an annoyance. -had one act as if they couldn't hear me and just hung up. Called sgain to someone else and they heard me clear as day. -They put you on hold at times and carry on a conversation for over 20 minutes with another employee. (Has happened a few times) -when you walk in depending who's working your often greeted with someone who just shoots you a dirty look as if your not welcome there. -the list honestly goes on.
I love their subs their very filling as well as no lack of substance! That if you can get through to someone who will actually try and take your order! Seriously in the last 3-4yrs the service/customer handling has honestly gone down the toilet and if it wasn't for all the issues that I myself dealt with as well as hearing others say the same thing. I would probably would of given it 4 or 5 stars but there is no excuse for this at all as far as the customer service and ordering roulette. NONE! Either you want the business...

For me it was disgusting from unwrapping it smelling like the grill not the ingredients, handling the under baked roll that had no substance to it as it wilted n split when raising it to my mouth. And flavor, there was none. I ordered a lg cheesesteak with onions n mushrooms. Meat has flavor, not at this place. It wasn't overpowered by anything either. Onions weren't visible which means they were resting on a hot grill losing any flavor n picking up color, brown like the tasteless meat. Mushrooms are a great test of a kitchens quality. Fresh or canned. Canned came out of this kitchen and they may have been plastic. Fresh pick up the flavors that surround them. An 8 yr old with a bread machine would produce a far superior roll. Like chewing tasteless under baked roll that just didn't quit. Nothing collectively had any flavor, absolutely tasteless. And 2 lg cheesesteaks cost $25.86 out the door, 1 lg plain, 1 lg plus mushrooms n onions. Difference with sauce, it would have tasted...
