I used to eat here 2 or 3 times a week when I worked in town. As I thought about what I wanted for lunch today, I remembered they had backbone and collards on Fridays. I thought the buffet ended at 2:30, but when I arrived at 2:05, they were in the process of taking it down. When the owner saw my disappointment, she directed the staff to pause long enough for me to fix a plate. I chose 2 pieces of backbone, some collards, candied yams, and stewed potatoes. The potatoes were mush due to being on the heated bar for an extended time, but I was okay with them. To say I was shocked when the waitress told me my cost was $23.47 would be a great understatement! I questioned her, and she said I had heavy food. Talking about being very upset, well I was! To eat inside for buffet was only $13 and change. The average person would have eaten way more than what I put on my plate! Before my health issues, I would have eaten two plates that size before moving to desserts.
I was very pleased when I saw them taking up the buffet, and the staff told them to stop so I could fix my plate. She didn't have to do this and I considered this great customer service. However, when I learned the cost of my plate, I was very tempted to leave it on the counter and go somewhere else. I've included a photo of my plate, knowing that there's no way it was worth that much money.
Although I've enjoyed this restaurant in the past, I don't see myself ever going there again for a takeout plate from the buffet!
I just calmed down and tasted of the food and was disappointed again. They...
Read moreI've been coming here from NJ every year since I was a kid. I was so happy to visit the establishment being that I missed a few years of visiting. Some of the servers are very short and Rude. Nothing like I remember. Almost like they didn't want to bothered. We were a party of 6, some just wanted salad bar and the others declined the buffet and wanted to do the menu. As waiting for our food, a roach climbed on table. When making server aware, she rudly waived her hand at us and said deal with the manager. No sympathy at all, just rude and nasty! Then a lady came over and I kid u not, her greeting was,"What?!" I knew she already was informed of the issue, but to address the table in that matter was totally unacceptable! Then when asked, "why are u greeting with a what?" She stated she didn't see any problem with it. My family and I just canceled all orders. I asked was she a manager and this lady answered that she was THE OWNER GUYS, THE OWNER!! That explains the disgusting attitudes of her workers.. I have a big family who resides in Williamston and have been coming to this establishment over 30 yrs!!! We will never be back!! To the OWNER, take up some customer service classes and retrain your workers!. I worked in a restaurant for 9yrs including management and I would never address a table as "what?" Especially when u have roaches bold enough to crawl on a table while ppl are dining! Let's see you answer what when the health department...
Read moreI recently dined at a charming little restaurant that serves up delicious seafood and down home cooking, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The food was decent, with generous portions and flavorful dishes that truly hit the spot.
I ordered the seafood platter, which came with shrimp, oysters, scallops and fish, all fried to perfection. The hushpuppies and fried okra on the side were also tasty additions to the meal.
The service at the restaurant was top-notch. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and quick to accommodate any special requests we had. The staff clearly takes pride in their work and it shows in their service.
As for the prices, I found them to be quite reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we received. I left feeling full and satisfied without breaking the bank.
Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a comforting meal of seafood and down home cooking. The food is decent, the service is great, and the prices are reasonable. I will definitely be returning...
