August 2021: I've been stopping at various ice cream shops during my "quest to find the best" ice cream in the greater Cleveland area.
I stumbled upon CP's Cooler and gave them a shot. Ordered the Vegan Coquito shake with the almond milk. They delivered it with a paper straw which meant that I better drink it in a hurry. Tasted it and it was pretty good. Thin coconut shavings inside a rum infused shake was potent enough to taste, but not enough to get drunk. Overall, I think that it is a very good shop that merits my business. I will be back.
Pros: "Homemade" ice cream Vegan options Drive through window; no need to get out the car. NOTE: this is a novel idea! They have a rum (real alcohol) flavor too for the adults. Covid cautious employees wearing masks. Clean shop with clean tables outside for the customers.
Cons: The prices are a tad more expensive than I would like--there is a $3 surcharge for their "homemade" ice cream. Paper straw requires quick consumption of shake or malt. I did not investigate the "vegan" option. I don't know if they used the same equipment as the other milk based products. I am not a vegan, but I know some people who are and they are particular about such things. It may also matter for the lactose...

I’ve given CP’s two chances, and both times were a complete waste of time and energy. The first time, I rode my bike a mile to get there, only to find the doors locked. Yet somehow, there’s a steady line of cars pulling in for ice cream? Makes no sense. I didn’t bother giving them my business that day.
Gave them one more shot—drove this time. I pull up and literally see a family inside being served ice cream, yet the doors are locked. What kind of absurd setup is this?
I sat for maybe 3 minutes and watched five separate families walk up to the locked door with their kids, realize it’s closed, and turn right back around to load up and leave.
CP’s: If you want to sell ice cream, open your doors. This isn’t a secret club, it’s supposed to be a business. The amount of confused people walking away empty-handed is unreal. Want more revenue? Try letting customers in while you sell ice cream from a microphone. Just a...
Read moreIt is a great place, great ice cream. Gave a 2 stars because strangely they served our ice cream CONES upside down in a CUP. They are only serving drive thru (not sure why) so we were surprised by this at the window, we said we ordered cones, the answer was, yeah that's homemade, Eh, what?! I guess if you order a CONE of their Homemade ice cream somehow you get a cup with the cone sticking out of it 🤦. I know their Fall hours are different but it makes no sense to only be serving Drive Thru and not also The Walk up Window. What about the People who walk to the store? I saw people walking away, I saw others standing on Foot at the drive thru to get service, Ridiculous. They have a sign saying Drive Thru only, it is small, and its placed right AT the Walk up service Window. Hard to see it until you are right there! Will be nice if it was bigger and Outside of the Store. Something...
