I went to eat at the Tequila Town Sandfly for my 32nd Birthday on May 18. I had a party of 10 including myself. They were very prompt about servicing my party. When we got to our table our waitress gave us menu and asked for drinks. Once she got everyone's drink she started brining them out super fast to the point where no one could stop her to ask a question about their drinks. We all overviewed the menu and everyone placed their orders for food. Now this is when things got worse. Half of my party had issues with them food being cold. Prior to sending the item back they had cut into the food to ensure it was hot. Well when the waitress brought the food back they receive the same exact food they wanted replace. You could still see the cuttings that my friend had made on her food and she stated the plate was super hot. Another one of my guest order a bowl of guacamole and after watching our waitress sit and talked to want must have been her coworker or significant other. My friend called for assistance asking for her guacamole only for the waitress to bring out a 2 oz. cup of guacamole which she didn't order. Now me and my other half of my party of ten was having a very deep conversation and then all of a sudden the waitress walks up to me and shove all the checks in my face saying "HERE GOES YA'LL CHECKS!" I politely asked her to wait and she yelled back at me "I'M NOT PAYING FOR THIS!" I then asked her how am I the customer supposed to know who order what. She then stormed off and all you heard was a loud slam. Come to find out she threw all the checks at the table behind us. After her action I got up and left the establishment and the sad part was I was so angry over something that had nothing to do with me that I fell and not one of their employees checked on me or called any type of paramedics being that I had just fell with 4 inch heels on. As I proceeded to walk out the establishment a guy followed me which I'm sure was the manager and instead of trying to figure out what was going on he took a picture of my license plate. So food being paid for was more important than the horrible service that me and my party of 10 received . If you can please go elsewhere to get Mexican food because its apparent that they are bias to those who are African Americans. The police was called and its said to say they already knew that type of foolishness that's involved at this establishment because they even stated that they get calls from this restaurant all the time about the service. This establishment needs new employees with better customer...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Tequila Town with the Brownies. I have a feeling it won't be my last. My first impression was the layout of the restaurant - wide and spacious with a high ceiling. The seating was a bit close with other diners, but I didn't feel as claustrophobic. Our waitress, Cristina, was good - a bit on the serious side, but very efficient and fast. We didn't have to ask for refills or for plates to be removed from the table.
Now, on to the food. I had the Carnitas Michoacan. The carnitas were a little salty but flavorful. I really appreciated that they weren't greasy. I would have really liked it if it was served in chunks of meat with some salsa verde on the side. Otherwise, it felt more like I was eating pulled pork. The refried beans were standard - thick, creamy, and topped with queso. There was also a very nice, sufficient portion of house salad served with the meal. All of the ingredients were fresh and served in a separate bowl. I liked this because salad served on the same hot plate as the entree isn't very appetizing.
Two of the Brownies had the Arroz Mexicana - large bowls of the rice of your choice, topped with the protein of your choice, perfectly grilled vegetables, and topped with a healthy portion of queso dip. Both declared it to be delicious.
Lord Manfred Brownie had the steak nachos - speaks for itself - a generous portion of nachos, loaded with straps of steak, grilled vegetables, lettuce, and queso. He's a growing young man with a lot of growing to do - and he still needed a take-out box!
Let's not forget the horchata perfectly creamy and sweet and loaded with cinnamon.
All said, we had a great time. I would like to return on a day and time where it's not so loud...
Read moreThe food was pretty good but the atmosphere started off weird from the second me and my fiancé got in the restaurant tonight. The young intoxicated caucasian woman who was seated next to us proceeded to mouth racial slurs to her male counterpart. Getting stares from the older white patrons like a look of disgust. Also I’m not sure if this was a race related incident but there was a unknown adjustment to the receipt “price adjustment “ that came out to be the usual percentage restaurants add as gratuity if authorized by the restaurant but In this case there was no need since it was just me and my fiancé. I feel as if the waiter looked at me and racially profiled me and took it upon himself to put the gratuity on the receipt because he felt like I was not going to pay him a tip because the color of my skin and unknowingly until I got home and thought about the charges and realized he left that adjustment on his own, I actually tipped him over twice. I know this review seems geared towards race but I definitely and I mean DEFINITELY felt uncomfortable tonight and this was my first and last time at tequila...
