I ordered the pork platter that came with Yellow Rice and kidney beans and a side of pork peril or shall I say that what I was supposed to receive for $24. I received shredded pork, 2 potatoe pieces and so few beans, I am not satisfied at all. This is not what I ordered and expected, the pork is for sandwiches, he'll I could have ordered from the Mexican food truck in my neighborhood and been completely satisfied. This restaurant is nowhere like it used to be and the portion sizes are entirely too small for my money. On top of that I used Grubhub so the total amount paid was $30 with tip and service fee (delivery was free thankfully.) They never have to worry about getting mine or any of my families money ever again. My sister warned me before I ordered because she too stopped ordering from here a few years ago. I spoke with the owner Rebecca and she said that she will contact Grubhub tomorrow morning or on Tuesday to issue me a refund, prayerfully I receive what I payed for my food not the tip or service fee. There are a few other rather not so nice things I found out about this restaurant but I will keep it to myself. I do not wish to hurt there business, however I refuse to accept...
Read moreIf I could give this spot zero stars I would. Iâm all about supporting my Dominican brothers and sisters but not under these conditions. There is absolutely no parking and prepare to be in the worst neighborhood.
Think Philly and Baltimore combined all in one block. When I called to ask if it be possible for someone to bring out the food because of the lack of parking and conditions of the neighborhood, the woman said that they did not have enough people and to double park my car. She then proceeds to hang up on me before I can ask anything else.
I pull into a bad spot half a block away and ran into the restaurant to see that there are more employees than people. When I tell her the name to pick up the order, she tells me that they are out of what I ordered.
I had to take what was left, which was a pork that looked like itâs been sitting there since the place probably first opened. The pork was slightly better than expected, but certainly not good. Also not what I ordered and I just did not want to leave empty handed after such a long trip...
Read moreI'm a frequent guest at Dominican Cafe. The atmosphere is laid back, in the heart of the city. Not quite Hilltop, but right on the slope. If you blink you might miss it, but those of us that are in the know; know where to stop for that authentic Dominican flavor to savor. Today I ordered over the phone before going in to sit down. I am never disappointed. Always tasty, fresh made to order breakfast. My go-to is an order of French Toast (3 thick slices cut in two, powdered sugar upon request) they have both pork and turkey options with the bacon and sausage. Today, I chose turkey bacon and eggs, scrambled with American cheese and onions. With a glass of Passion Fruit juice.. that all came to 9 dollars even..or oddđ They have roasted chicken and chicharron in the hot display case ready to be cut for your order. Among other items. Rice and beans.. yucca root... It's all amazingly delicious. This place has been a Wilmington Delaware staple for years and I'm sure it will be for...
