Our experience at Far from France was lackluster and disappointing. From the start, staff were not attentive, even with an excessive number of people (likely due to training). Interactions were rushed throughout our visit with minimal personal exchange. Tables were placed inconveniently, causing both staff and patrons to squeeze through odd spaces and mutter countless ‘excuse me’s’. The tables were also oddly small (sat at a 2-top). Food was very average - though it came out in a good time, there were signs the food sat beneath a warmer for a considerable time prior to serving. We got the escargot and chèvre salad for appetizers: escargot was fine but the salad was underwhelming (could have used more dressing). We chose the King Oyster Scallops for an entree, and though quite tasty (especially the carrot purée), the food was quite tough to chew, primarily the highlighted King Oyster mushrooms. This restaurant has just recently opened for dinner (~a week ago), so I give some grace. However, we were not impressed by many aspects of our dining experience and will only return in a few months, hoping they improve.

I ordered the most amazing crepe cake from Far from France for my daughter's 16th birthday party. It was the one thing she asked for. The staff and owner were so kind and professional when taking my order and scheduling my pick up time. When I arrived to pick up her cake I was about 5 minutes before my scheduled pick up time. I was greeted with very happy faces and told that they were still putting the topping on her cake and asked if I would like a coffee on the house while I waited. I had a wonderful vanilla iced latte and while I waited the 3 minutes it took them to finish I ordered 6 beautiful macaroons for the ride home. The owner helped me carry all of my things to the car so I didn't drop the cake! I just want to say a very big "THANK YOU" for making her day so special and for your impeccable customer service. You all went above and beyond to make my experience a memorable one. You don't see many people anymore actually having pride in the work they do and the way they value their customers. It was a perfect cake and we appreciate you guys so much! We will definitely be back to see you guys very soon!

I was so looking forward to having brunch here for our 40th anniversary weekend, but I was sorely disappointed. But first the positives. The owners have done a wonderful job with the expansion, although one can reasonably argue it had a little more charm and authenticity when it was smaller. Nonetheless, the decor and spacing of the tables is well thought out. Our server was friendly and professional, and apologized for the slowness of the kitchen that day, but honestly it wasn’t bad at all. We started with the cappuccinos, which was excellent. Probably the best I’ve ever had. My only issue is the portion size was closer to what one might expect for an espresso. I ordered the crab crepe with poached eggs and my husband had the crepe with ham and bacon with eggs over easy. My crepe was barely lukewarm and somewhat dry and the crab was fishy, leaving a weird taste in my mouth. My husband didn’t have any complaints other than a dry crepe also. I would go back, but maybe for a dessert crepe or something else entirely.

Owner berated my father on his birthday brunch celebration, accused us of "ordering wrong" and stormed off.

My family and I had a reservation for brunch, celebrating my father's birthday that falls on July 14th, French Independence Day. We were promptly sat, served professionally and catered to in a very standard manner. When ordering, my father and brother requested a few changes to their sandwiches. One wanted a Ham Sandwich with Bechamel sauce, the other wanted a Turkey sandwich with no vegetables, no mayo. When the food came out, the Turkey Sandwich had lettuce, and the Ham Sandwich had no sauce at all. The plates were also handed to us incorrectly, causing a bit more confusion. We realized the mistake and called the server to send the food back.

We would not have minded if they redressed the sandwiches with the correct foods. Instead, the owner of the restaurant came barreling out of the kitchen and confronted us. He sharply asked "So what did we do wrong, you ordered the sandwiches and we gave you what your ordered." We attempted to explain what had happened after already letting our server know, but the owner was having none of it. He stormed off without addressing us. He returned about 10 minutes later to argue the same thing. My father did not intend on arguing with any food service worker today and simply wanted his sandwich. The owner continued to disrupt the dining room and assured us that we got exactly what we had ordered. He even brought the server's note, and when we explained what had happened, he realized that he was wrong and stormed off again. He did not return to the table, did not apologize, and did not let the server out of the kitchen for about another 10 minutes. We paid for our food and left immediately.

Despite the restaurant's ambience and kind service workers, the unprofessionalism, short temper, and ego of the owner will forever taint our image of this establishment. It is incredibly disappointing and embarrassing to be treated with such a lack of basic respect on such an important day for us. It felt like a Kitchen Nightmares episode, before Gordon Ramsey works his magic.

Note: My father is an accredited former Food and Beverage Director and Executive Chef. If this happened in his kitchen, he would have been the one to go out and address the family's concerns. He attests to the lack of professionalism and accountability the owner...

With 6 days to go before Thanksgiving I received notification that the reservation I had made with Far From France a month before was cancelled, and that they would in fact not be open on Thanksgiving. They suggested I go to their restaurant some other day of the week!!

What kind of high-end restaurant doesn't realize that they're taking reservations on a holiday and then cancels them so close to the day? I called and spoke with the owner, who was neither apologetic or understanding of the difficulty of making a new reservation so close to the holiday. He told me they aren't ever open for holidays. I asked how I would know that, and how they could take a reservation for a day that they weren't open. Again, no explanation, implying that this was my fault for not knowing their schedule.

This is the second poor experience I've had with them, after an Anniversary dinner soon after they opened, waiting over an hour for my main course because I put in an appetizer request first, watching people seated after us finish their dinners. The owner told me then that it was our fault, that we should have ordered everything at once, even though the waiter never suggested that. To make up for it he gave us a few dried up macaroons that were probably too old to be sold. Disappointing.

I returned recently for a friend's party and had a reasonable experience, and thought that the management had probably worked out their process, so I would give them a try for this holiday. Only to have the reservation cancelled when it's essentially impossible to get another reservation. And again, unapologetically.

My suggestion: try Caprice or Brassier instead, two reliable restaurants that understand how important reservations are to...

From the moment you step into Far from France, you’re transported—not just to the warm ambiance of a thoughtfully curated space, but to a cultural experience that’s as rich as the cuisine it offers. Nestled at The Point, this charming restaurant is more than just a place to eat—it’s a destination for anyone who appreciates fine food, great service, and the French language.

The food is simply excellent. Every dish is crafted with precision and passion, blending classic French flavors with subtle, creative twists that delight the palate. Whether you’re savoring a perfectly flaky croissant at breakfast or indulging in a beautifully plate for dinner, the quality and care are unmistakable.

What truly sets Far from France apart, though, is the service. The staff are incredibly welcoming, attentive without being intrusive, and genuinely enthusiastic about both the food and the guests. You feel valued from the first greeting to the final bite.

As an added delight, the restaurant doubles as a gathering place for Francophones and French learners alike. Whether you’re fluent or just starting to say bonjour, you’ll find a friendly, encouraging environment to connect, converse, and immerse yourself in the language. It’s not unusual to overhear conversations in French flowing as smoothly as the wine, and the sense of community it fosters is truly special.

Far from France is more than a restaurant—it’s a warm, vibrant corner of French culture right here at The Point. Highly recommended for food lovers, language enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a memorable...
