La Costa — Restaurant in Wilmington

Our family was in this area and wanted to try a new venue. Typically we visit San Felipe, but I checked the reviews on google and they had excellent ratings.

The staff is friendly, but the food is lacking seasoning. The taco salad came out with only beef, lettuce, cheese and tomato.

No guacamole or sour cream as the description stated. I chose to eat it and not ask for correction. The shell tasted as if the oil used to fry it hadn’t been changed.

The disappointing thing to me is the cheese used. When dining in a Mexican restaurant, I love the Mexican cheese that is typically used, this cheese tasted like run of if the mill bagged grocery cheddar. The beef didn’t have much flavor either.

It may have been an off day when we visited, because I was shocked that the reviews were so great and the food was bland. I will stick to the restaurant we are used to, as we didn’t even finish our meals.

Not impressed, the painted over wall paper is peeling off the walls, the carpet was dirty with food mushed into it. The salsa tasted like watered down marinara, the queso wasn't queso at all, it was orange beer cheese. I got shrimp tacos that were the most Caucasian version possible and the shrimp were so over cooked it could have passed for burnt calamari and it was not deveined so the flavor was awful. The salad came on a 150° plate and was basically baked lettuce by the time it reached the table. Unhappy with everything so far I ordered chicken chimichangas because that's impossible to screw up but I was surprised by a watery, rancid first bite.
