Yaki Express has officially earned its spot in my regular hibachi rotation! As a lover of hibachi-style food, I've tried several spots around Wilmington—but this one keeps me coming back. I always get the same thing (creature of habit): steak hibachi with veggies and fried rice. The steak is cooked to order—medium rare for me—and always tender and flavorful. The veggies are fresh and perfectly sautéed, with onions, zucchini, and mushrooms. And that fried rice? Next level. I don’t know what magic they put in it, but it’s easily my favorite in town.
There’s a self-serve sauce station (hello unlimited white sauce!) right next to the drink machine, which is a major win in my book. The prices are more than fair, especially for the quality.
Sometimes I stop in solo during lunch, but other times I bring my wife and two younger boys while our oldest is at youth group. One loves the noodles, and the other is obsessed with their California sushi roll—which is absolutely massive and delicious!
What really puts Yaki Express over the top, though, is the service. The family that runs it is incredibly kind and welcoming. They always greet me with a big smile, like they're genuinely happy to see me again—and that kind of appreciation means a lot.
If you're looking for great hibachi, awesome service, and food that hits every time, give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait for...
Read moreAMAZING, Me, My gf, daughter and her mom were planning on going to Okami steakhouse and decided to come here instead and let me just say that was the best decision ever(no hate against okami) I got the Teriyaki chicken bowl and it was AMAZING, My GF got the hibachi steak and shrimp, she said the medium rare steak made her mouth water and she normally eats like a bird but ate everything because it was so good, daughter got noodles like she usually does at okami but ended up eating the steak because it was so good(and she’s picky normally when it comes to food like this) so we’ll be getting her a steak bowl next time, My GFs mom got a hibachi steak and chicken and also LOVED it, Got an appetizer of sushi and it was on point, The rice and veggies that came with the hibachi steak and shrimp/hibachi steak and chicken was amazing, Service was 10/10, Cashier asked all the right questions and made sure we had what we needed and were satisfied, the cook/Owner made sure to ask how everything was, We we’re talking about how good it was 2 full days after eating it and 100% WILL BE returning, foods priced good, service is great, food is AMAZING, and location/atmosphere is comfortable. Best hibachi in wilmington beats Hibachi Bistro and Hiros/Okami any day, UNDERRATED COME TRY...
Read moreSo where do I start? My girlfriend and I went in and ordered 2 orders on the menu. Paid the cashier kid and left a 9.00 tip thinking they would bring us the food and we sat down and waited. Took 35 minutes for our food to be done and they didn’t bring us the food but called our number out for us to come get it after tipping 9.00. The food was just your average hibachi plate like you get anywhere else, nothing extravagant to rate a 4.8 or so. Anyway my girlfriend’s plate consisted of all onions and 3 small pieces of Zucchini. as the veggies. No salad or noodles were included. She went to the cashier to tell them she only got onions and 3 pieces of Zucchini and his comment to her was thats how it comes after leaving him a 9.00 tip for doing absolutely nothing to earn the tip! The owners heard all this and couldn’t care less. Tight with their food when vegetables are cheep. The fish they use in the sushi is pasted, it was minced and turned into like a paste. Not one solid piece of salmon in the sushi roll I ordered. Anyway they fooled us once and for the first and last time! We won’t be back and writing a bad review to warn everyone! We spent 52.00 for 2 plates with a 9.00 tip. Take your bossiness elsewhere and get your...
