Mike's Vegan Grill — Restaurant in Wilmington

Synopsis to save you if you don’t like reading. GO! Food is incredible. Customer Service is even better! Go get you some!! Five Star Errythang!!!

I was a regular customer of Mike’s Vegan in Charlotte while there for work last year and couldn’t be more excited they made it to Wilmington now!

My first experience with them was nearly torpedoed by a third party delivery service but I quickly learned the only thing better than the food at Mike’s is their customer service. After an extended wait, which most likely all but killed the entire order, one of the owners himself, Alex, offered to drive it out to me personally but only after he insisted on remaking it so the quality, and my experience, wouldn’t be compromised.

I was stuck at work with only my motorcycle in the middle of a thunderstorm and couldn’t have appreciated it more. My brother came through last minute and offered to pick it up for me in the end but the gesture did not go unnoticed.

As for the food…MAN!! Did I mention I was excited for them to open a Wilmington location! As is the case in Charlotte absolutely AMAZING food. Cruelty free, plant based, delicious and quick sandwiches, sides, and more. I got the Dirty Fries, a meal unto themselves, that I could barely get through. A giant plate of crinkle cut fries absolutely crushed under a mountain of chopped BBQ, cole slaw, pickles, and special sauce. BBQ was on point!!! Cruelty free WHAT?!!? Mouth watering! Slaw, pickles, and special sauce just finished it ALL. OFF! I won’t need to eat again for a week but I’ll still be happy 7 days from now!

Added a Carolina Dog just in case I was still hungry, HA! Unnecessary but so worth it. Chili, cheese, more slaw and special sauce, and diced onions. Drowning!! My brother was like, “Is there even a dog in there?!!?” Haha!! There was! A vegan dog at that. In desperate need of a life jacket. Slam Dunk!

I’ll be a customer for life just for the service but it helps the food is lights out and the variety is so plentiful I could eat there a few times a week and still get excited! This place is absolutely amazing! It is it's own vibe... like really... they are located in the cargo district and are a walk up windows. They take your number and text you when your food is ready so you don't feel weird lingering waiting. I've tried pretty much everything they offer and have not yet been disappointed! I've even ordered things I didn't expect to enjoy and still loved the food! The manager is extremely chill and interactive with both employees and customers to make the environment feel inviting and fun. The few employees they have all seem really knowledgeable about the food and all seem happy as employees! Let's be real a crabby cook makes crappy meals a delightful cook tends to make delicious meals! Their steak, shrimp, and chicken will blow your mind! The flavor is always on point and won't disappoint! There are picnic tables in a courtyard style area and seating in the arcade area if you want ac.

Omg! This place is amazing. I hate leaving reviews, but had such fantastic service and food I had to say something. I had the po boy sandwich and it was out of this world delicious. I've never had shrimp before and so I was scared of vegan shrimp, but it tasted so good. The sauce was flavorful and the bread soft, the whole sandwich was such a good experience. The guys working tonight were fun to talk to and gave suggestions, like get the aioli sauce, which is to die for! I only wish I lived in Wilmington and wasn't leaving tomorrow. I can't wait to come back...
