Atmosphere was okay and definitely had potential. I never leave 2 out of 5 stars to be frank but I felt this necessary to leave an accurate account of the business as it is today. With that being said, I came to Gypsy for the first time 3-4 hours before closing on a Thursday. When I entered the establishment, I saw people sitting at the bar and others sitting on couches. The bartender wasnât actively engaged with customers but still I had to almost flag her down to get a menu AT THE BAR! Which is quite small so it was impossible that she missed me, she chose to act like she didnât see me (for whatever reason, Iâm still not sure). In addition, there was a gentlemen sitting at the bar who was very rude and told me to get up when I was looking at the menu so he could reclaim his seat (to which I had no knowledge of it being his and furthermore, I wasnât even sitting at the seatâI was only hovering around trying to get my hookah). I had already called in and knew what I wanted but chose to be patient for the bartender as I could tell she must have been new to the job. Later, I noticed that a gentleman in his early 40âs walking around behind the bar and telling customers about the business policies (apparently there was a patron âtaggingâ or âgraffitiâingâ the establishment with swastikas. And he was instructing how this is not tolerated. Which to be fair is completely acceptable. But, after asking the gentleman later a question about the establishment he was completely, unequivocally, and unethically rude to me and replied with, âI donât work here, I just help out around the place so if you see me around here behind the bar thatâs whyâ and continued to scoff at me. This again I know was a lengthy post but I believe this has to be reflected because it seems that this business has a great model and definite potential but lacks patrons and staff alike that are hospitable and kind. I know this is not what the owners had in mind when setting out with their business. Music was on point aside from that and it seemed the alcoholic drink selection was wide, and food menu seemed to have all the essentials you would want. And finally, the hookah had a great flavor but lacked the âpullâ most enjoy from smoking hookah. I believe this had to do with the amount of water in the hookah (I asked if this was potentially the case and was dismissed without any troubleshooting). I would return with change of staff and a new scene of patrons that are preferably not racist nor egotistical. Sorry again for the lengthy post! If you do goâI hope your experience is better than mine!!

Read moreLast Sunday morning I had the opportunity to go here a visiting quartet at the Juggling Gypsy. The quartet was excellent. Apparently this is their second time coming to town and they played Jewish jazz, Benny Goodman, and more (I will try to post their business card in case that interests you). I have dropped people off at the Juggling Gypsy for a number of years when I drive Uber, but I've never had the chance to go in. When I arrived, at what I thought was the beginning of the concert, it was already packed. There was one seat at the bar left and I took that. All the people who had arrived before me had obviously ordered food for brunch, which apparently is an unusual event at the Juggling Gypsy. It was an eclectic atmosphere that was great for this event. however I was never asked if I'd like something to drink, or given a menu of what was offered for brunch. There were quite a few places to sit, but they were awful. I'm not great at sitting on a stool. so after a while of waiting for someone to come and ask me if I'd like a drink I decided to go sit outside. They have a lot of seating outside and they have speakers out there as well, so you can hear the concert just as well as inside and be comfortable sitting in many different types of a seating. There's outdoor seating for all seasons, there are fire pits, there's cover for when it rains, and obviously sun would be just fine. I think I'd like to go back again and get there earlier so maybe I could get a great seat. I like that they brought in different kinds of acts, not just the same thing they might always have, which I really don't know what that is, but I would check it out. It's not posh, it's very haphazardly eclectic. But you can find a good place to enjoy the music. I'd bring a group of friends, it'll make it more fun, especially if you're not great at talking to strangers. I'd also be assertive at getting to the bar and ordering your drink. On a Sunday morning I just wasn't assertive enough to do that. I believe they're in the process of changing their name for some reason, but for now I'm going to call it the Juggling Gypsy until I see the new name take root. So give it a try. I would not put this down as a place for eating, I think it's more of a place of experiencing. Go see...
Read moreThis is a cool little classic neighborhood dive bar. If youâre expecting or wanting fancy, then itâs not the vibe. Total lack of pretension gives way to a relaxing atmosphere, easy going staff and clientele and plenty of room for human error- which, in this case, is a meant as a compliment. One gets a sense that itâs not big deal here, whatever the deal is.
Drew the bartender was kind and personable, gave me recommendations, and it was clear he cares about his bar and his customers.
I havenât experienced it on a busy or wild night but this is a perfect place to stop in, for some day drinking, have some nachos and any of their 150 beers they have available.
Outdoor seating is extremely laid back, and the interior seems perfect for stopping by to listen to a live band, who may show up impromptu, and last minute, after a phone call in asking if they can just stop by to jam tomorrow.
Thatâs the...
